The five-hour movie is not so long and unbearable. On the contrary, "Attack from the Bottom of the Sea" is a German movie. Its rigorous structure, demanding details, and cruel and true portrayal make it human under the cloud of war. The struggle is presented with great tension in the claustrophobic space of the submarine. After the plot that contains the ups and downs is like a cat-and-mouse game, the helpless loneliness, through the expression of the group portrait, presents the most shocking and contemplative ending. I can't help but feel that this reflection on the war from a German perspective is so profound that "From the Bottom of the Sea" is undoubtedly the best war movie to date.
