Where the movie falls short compared to the novel

Perfume is one of my most anticipated movies in 2006, but
I read Suskind's novel first and then the movie.
I like the novel very much because it is rare to encounter such a way of describing smell. Delicate, vivid,
and unprecedentedly told from the perspective of a murderer,
an objective film-telling can only be regarded as quite satisfactory for the presentation of the novel.
Whether it

is the visual representation of the olfactory world, which is a key part of the novel, or the portrayal of the characters’ hearts. Compared with the film, there are several places where the performance is insufficient:
1> There is a paragraph in the book about the description of Grenouille's arrangement of smells, which only exists in his brain. The formation process of the huge smell alphabet and dictionary cannot be described in words. The classification and sorting of all kinds of strange smells, and the film about this part is a short one.

2> The life of Grenouille in the volcanic cave is also a large part of the psychological description. It is roughly about how the uncrowned king in the olfactory world is addicted to him. The illusory kingdom built with scents is full of unrestrained imaginations. The
movie deleted this scene and jumped directly to the fact that he suddenly discovered that he had no human scent, which made this experience in the volcanic cave very inexplicable.

3>Grenoye His attitude towards the people around him has changed from fear to hatred. Collecting and possessing all the scents in the world is the only reason for him to live in the world. Collecting a girl's body scent is on the one hand a kind of satisfaction for his strong scent possessiveness. It is also a collective revenge against all mankind. He has to prove that through smell he can conquer and drive anyone in the world, even the relatives of a murdered girl. When those who once regarded him as a monster murderer knelt at his feet and shouted. When he was an angel, Grenouille's heart was full of contempt,
but what I saw in the movie was that this group of people who performed group promiscuity, including Grenouille, had a good time. The scene was very similar to the singing of a certain singer. The difference is that it is not the singing but the smell that attracts the audience
