there are better movies...

generally i have no interest in movies that depict the life of some talented singer and his struggles with fame and drugs. walk the line drew my attention simply because reese witherspoon "outperformed" felicity huffman in the oscar race.

i'm a fan of felicity huffman and i assume anyone that could beat her must be able to liven up a movie with a stunningly powerful performance. but i was wrong. walk the line is probably the first serious movie where reese played the leading role . her past work is mostly cheesy chick flicks. well, maybe it's not fair to make a preconceptional judgement. but the truth is, the character she played, was not a very difficult and challenging one. she handled it ok, although it could' ve been sculpted better. the directing of the movie kinda hindered the potential that could've been tapped to make the oscar award more worthy of the name.

anyway, i lost my patience two-thirds the way through it. in my eyes, it's just another mediocre hollywood attempt in exploring struggles and pain in life. reese witherspoon should be happy for successfully upgrading her track record with such an easy hit. i kinda like her, though.
