The second time I found out that the entire film was narrated by Chloe in the opening credits, and every sentence in this narration was an accurate preview of the entire film. Later, I read the script again. I won’t elaborate on the differences between the script and the film here. Just a few words. Catherine definetly longs for chloe, at least in the beginning. In fact, the original intention of reading the script is to find the answer to this question. , This makes me feel a little relieved. In the movie, Catherine’s eyes on Chloe were mostly cold. Later, it’s not bad to think of this way, otherwise he would have to slide in the direction of the erotic thrill of the script. (I didn’t understand why the label of this film was erotic thrill. Only later in the script did I know that some places were indeed written in that way). I don’t know if this change is from the director or Julian Moore himself. Anyway, the point here is that there is still a narration of chloe at the end of the script. This narration echoes the opening of the film and is the finishing touch of the whole film. It changes the tone of the whole film and opens up the examination of this film. The new perspective of the film also allows the film to be sublimated. It is a pity to delete this narration from the film, so I will make a supplement here.
Opening credits (in the movie):
CHLOE
(vo)
I've always been pretty good with
words.
CHLOE
(vo)
In my line of business, it's as
important to be able to describe
what I'm doing, as it is to DO what
I'm doing. When to say what. What
word to select.
CHLOE
(vo)
Some men hate to hear certain
terms. They can't stand specific
moves, and then they can't live
without others.
CHLOE
(vo)
It's part of my job to know where
to place my hand, my lips, my
tongue, my leg, and even my
thoughts.
CHLOE
(vo)
...What kind of pressure, for how
long, and when to stop...
CHLOE
(vo)
I can become your first kiss.
CHLOE
(vo)
Or a torn out image from Playboy
that you found when you were nine
years old. Am I your secretary, or
am I your wife? Maybe I'm your
seventh grade math teacher you
always hated...
CHLOE
All I know is that if I do it just
right, I can become your living,
breathing unflinching dream. And
then, I can actually...Disappear.
Ending (character beads, infinite meaning):
CHLOE
(vo)
..When I was alive, part of what I
did was to become invisible. To
crawl inside your deepest dreams,
fears, hopes, and obsessions. To
recite to you your own story, even
if you didn't know it yourself...
CHLOE
(vo)
And in this way, I could breathe
life into you. And make you Alive.
CHLOE
(vo)
When I was alive, and I had
completed my task, I was folded up
and forgotten.
CHLOE
(vo)
But what if, by dying, I were to
stay around. And never go away?
CHLOE
(vo)
What if , by dying, I could continue
to narrate your life...
CHLOE
(vo)
What if, by dying, I could nestle
myself into everything that ever
happened to you, without even
touching you.
CHLOE
(vo)
Without ever even uttering. Another
Word...
With this narration, we only realized the hairpin that catherine turned around.
The part at the end of the film shouldn't be translated. The original writing style is Spring and Autumn. I'm afraid that I won't be able to translate the taste. Everyone will check it out.
In my lifetime
, some of my words and deeds are faintly difficult to detect.
I dived into the depths of your dreams and
penetrated into your doubts, your hopes, and your obsessions.
Telling you your own story
and you are at a loss for
it. So
I blow my life into your body to
make you reborn.
In my lifetime,
I completed my mission and
then I was put on hold and forgotten.
But if I
die by death
Can I walk by your side and
never leave?
If
by virtue of death
I can continue to tell your story...
if
by virtue of death
I can huddle in your belongings and
even no longer have to touch you
or even confess again, half a word
