[Alita: Battle Angel]: 7 points
I feel that Director Luo is still aggrieved. He has been shooting B-level films all the year round, but he finally managed to receive an A-level blockbuster. As a result, the promotional posters and media drafts are all based on the works of card gods, making him look like a nominal director.
If you watch it with the mentality of watching Kashen create the miracle of Avatar again, you will definitely be disappointed, because it has many flaws in other aspects except special effects. But if you look at it from the perspective of watching a B-grade film, the many violent aesthetics in it can indeed give you sensory stimulation, and the whole process is still very cool, because this is Director Luo's style!
B-level movies are all about sensory stimulation, and all plots and logic are thrown aside. Take Luo Dao's previous highest rated "Sin City" as an example. Where is the success of "Sin City"? It is that the plot is simple and rude. Luo Dao can focus on black and white visual aesthetics and violent presentation. You will care about why the characters can't be beaten to death, and why they will fly over the eaves and walls, you just feel cool enough.
In the grand worldview of "Alita", Director Luo's shortcomings come out, and it can be seen that he is completely unable to control a story that is too complicated. So many plots and rhythms in the movie will make you feel strange, why the bounty hunters go to the game again and again, the main line and the sub-line are often not clear enough.
Take the most bizarre bar scene as an example. The heroine came to the bar to give an embarrassing speech and then got into a fight with someone inexplicably. The audience looked confused. It was obvious that Director Luo couldn't wait to shoot the fight scene, and he didn't think about how to make the prelude to the fight scene smoother, so they started fighting quickly. You see, Luo Dao is not interested in literary dramas that he is not interested in.
Of course, the advantage is Director Luo's action scenes. Each action scene is very beautifully designed, using robot battles to cover up his bloody violence. It’s normal to have amputated limbs inside, inserting amputated hands and limbs into the eyes, cutting off the face with a knife, cutting the person in half, these pictures are of robots, so everyone will not be too uncomfortable, you replace the other person with blood have a look?
Another advantage is that Kashen, the special effects pictures inside are all assisted by Kashen's technical team, and the heroine Alita is completely indistinguishable from a real person. This kind of technology is still rare in today's film market. There is a steampunk scrap iron city, take a closer look at the many details in the background are carefully designed. What's more, this is a real 3D camera shot, which is not on the same level as those so-called special effects blockbusters that are obviously 2D but converted to 3D later on in the market.
Finally, I want to complain about Kashen. I read many comments that Kashen spent more than ten years and invested a lot of money, just to let the world recommend his favorite comics. If I read it right, the script of this movie seems to be written by you, Kashen. You spend so much money and so long to use this terrible script to express the comics you love?!
Giving 7 points on the one hand is from the perspective of B-level films, and on the other hand, it is also from the perspective of special effects. If "The Wandering Earth" represents Asia's top technology, then "Alita" represents the world's top technology .
I still hope that the box office of the movie will not be rushed. Although the story is not well told, I am still looking forward to the next step~
