The series of horror films directed and supervised by Wen Ziren in recent years are basically excellent works, although from my point of view, the "Annabelle" series and "Dead Silence" are slightly inferior to the "Hidden" series and "House 1" , the former is the quirkiness of the plot itself, which gives the audience fear, the ghost images are mostly concealed, and the behavior is also pointed out; while the latter uses the ghost image as a selling point, the ghost appears at the beginning and swaying throughout the whole chapter, supporting the terrifying bridge.
However, in this "House of Horrors 2", it is a rare combination of ghost images and horror plots. The strength of the two goes hand in hand, and the balance of the two pushes the audience's fear to a new high.
"Tricky House 2" played some different stalks.
1. Evil spirits no longer avoid humans, no longer as long as the crowd gathers, as long as it is daytime, the evil spirits will not show up.
2. Evil spirits attack humans indiscriminately with unprovoked malice.
3. The image of the evil spirit is set as a nun, the sense of sanctity is subverted, and the general impression of the audience is destroyed.
4. Ignoring the power of religion, leaving the audience feeling helpless and helpless.
In the movie, there are two plot lines. One is the supernatural incident that happened to the Warrens helping the northern suburbs of Enfield. The youngest daughter Jenny in the family sometimes seems to be possessed by evil spirits. At the moment of being possessed, being manipulated to laugh or being thrown into the air, the Warren and his wife were entrusted by the church to investigate and exorcise them; secondly, Mrs. Warren was also disturbed by an evil spirit, and she was a nun. The terrifying evil spirits often roam the home of the Warrens. The space does not need to be large, and the plot does not need to be complicated, but certain scenes such as the living room sofa and room, the Warrens' house, are enough, and the small space makes people feel that they cannot escape. But this film is different from the past, there is no trapped beast fight, no Jedi counter-kill, until the last moment before the exorcism, it tries its best to make the audience lose confidence and unable to resist.
The arrangement of the plot has already made the audience's fear in their throats. The rhythm is excellently controlled. The director uses a slow rhythm and a sudden fast rhythm. At the beginning, Mrs. Warren wandered in the house, and the horror was in Mrs. Warren's. Slowly moving and accumulating power, using the mirror that horror movies are used to, switching back and forth between Mrs. Warren looking at the mirror and behind her, the jumping speed becomes faster at this time, and the evil spirit of the nun appears, and the arrangement is just right. Another example is the young son Billy who saw the swing outside the window in the middle of the night. Keeping the picture dark has made the audience alert, but the director deliberately stretched this emotion and kept it at a very high level, which is very difficult to achieve. , on the one hand, make a picture that calms the audience, on the other hand, use footsteps and moving mirrors to be vigilant; after going upstairs, use the pushed back toy car and the mother to go downstairs to find Jenny sitting on the sofa, indicating to the audience that the house is absolutely The existence of other spirit bodies is by no means suspicious.
Then several parts found that the film made the evil spirit show fearless power and his strength. The first time the crowd gathered, the mother came to their room because of the screaming of her two daughters, and then the evil spirit controlled the furniture making The fright was unavoidable; the second time the police were called, it seemed that the evil spirit moved the stool in front of everyone. The setting was unexpected, and even if it was not done well, it was quite comical, but this further proved the power of the evil spirit.
Leaving aside the plot aspect, the image of the evil spirit is slightly innovative. It is no longer a woman with disheveled hair or a dirty face. Of course, the evil spirits in Wen Ziren's films rarely appear in such a popular image. The choice of the image of the nun was puzzled at first. Mrs. Warren called him the Count of Snakes, the blasphemer, the 62nd of Solomon's 72 Pillars of Demons, and the image was a boy riding a two-headed dragon with a pair of angel wings. His ability was treasure hunting. . The director did not use his image because of copyright restrictions. But set him up as a nun, a nun who is engaged in prayer and assisting priests in the mission, is a clergyman. But the abnormal image of the evil spirit here, this setting subverts people's usual cognition, and the nun who the believers confided in asking for help became the perpetrator. This kind of contemplation is as if you woke up in the middle of the night, and your mother stared at you with a high knife; while he harmed human beings, he was not afraid of the divine power. Jenny was trapped in the room, the crosses in the room were turned over, evil The power of the spirit crushes the only hope left by the audience, so powerful that it cannot be resisted, and a sense of powerlessness arises spontaneously.
It is worth mentioning that there is a scene where Mrs. Warren is at home, the nun's shadow and the oil painting are integrated into one, and finally she quickly rushes towards the camera with the oil painting in her hand. The shadow slowly moved from the wall to the oil painting, not directly moving, but hiding behind the oil painting and reaching out to move forward. It seems to want to promote first and suppress it, so that the audience does not know when it will appear. This arrangement is more powerful.
There are some flaws. After the CG technology is mature, although the image of the evil spirit can be better expressed, some parts are too cartoonish, such as the distorted villain that scared Billy and the evil spirit that changes the dog, which is a little off the scene. But throughout the whole article is indeed a rare horror masterpiece this year.
