The story still starts with the nightmare of the two girls at the same time. It is also the case that Kris first died in front of her boyfriend Jesse, and then Jesse told the real heroine Nancy that he was innocent. Jesse also died in a dream after being arrested and imprisoned. Up to this point, this so-called new version has absolutely no original things. Later, Nancy and Quentin discovered the truth about Freddy, and Quentin witnessed the scene of Freddy being burned to death in a dream. The innocent two thought that their parents killed Freddy by mistake, and believed that Freddy wanted them to return to their dreams. The school in is to help him find something. As a result, when they got there, they realized that Freddy's real purpose was to make them remember the most painful and dark memories, in order to torture them. The so-called "new" of the new version is in this part, it makes Nancy think that Freddy was wronged, and finally proves that she was wrong. This twisty is too technical, apart from being able to create more plots to frighten the audience, I can't see anything advanced and smart than the original, but it's procrastinating and boring without logic at all. Of course, the result of killing Freddy is to copy the original, but this time, Freddy was not beaten into hell because of Nancy's retraction, but Nancy and Quentin cut his hand and cut his throat and die again... There is no more logic than this. New ways to die? And Freddy has completely turned into a babble, a basket of nonsense before the murder, and the low and broken voice will only make people feel bored rather than scared later.
Despite this, there are still a few shots and designs in the film that make my eyes shine, but most of them are loved when watching the trailer. For example, after Kris fell asleep in class, all the people around him in his dream became ashes in an instant, so the creativity that benefited from special effects seemed to be there in the film. There is also the scene where Nancy, who is half dreaming and half awake, encounters Freddy in the drugstore. The quick editing between dream and reality is also very interesting. Although the famous Korean male only appeared in a few Vlog videos in the film, his way of death scared me. The last is the final shot. Compared with the last shot of the original, the new version has more visual impact and can give the audience a small surprise.
Except for the above points, I don't think there is anything interesting about this so-called new edition. The scary tactics from start to finish make people feel bored. Maybe at the beginning I was worried about when Freddy would come out suddenly, but by the second half of the film I was completely numb, even if he suddenly popped out, the sound effects suddenly burst the eardrums. I'm completely calm and have no feelings anymore. This "Meng Ghost Street" is gimmicky as a "new version", but it's actually all the original version. Kris's death method, Jesse was imprisoned unjustly, paws sticking out of the bathtub, Freddy who broke through the "wall", the final method to kill Freddy, even the body bag in the school corridor... the so-called "new version" A lot of copying of the original content, and the real original part is very few. It is not so much a new version as a "remake". But despite this, both the title and the IMDB data only mention Wes Craven as the character creator, but the name of the original creator is not mentioned in the story script.
The result is of course not good. If you are so drowsy that you can at least have a chance to scare yourself with a nightmare, but in fact, the eardrum and heart endurance have been tortured for 90 minutes, and you can’t sleep even if you want to sleep. Nightmare of watching movies.
PS: All I Have To Do Is Dream is really interesting as the theme song.
