innocent death

"Goodbye Firefly" is the first Miyazaki Jun's work I have seen, and it is also his most realistic one. Imaginative things are of course good, but I prefer realism, preferably "dream into reality" -- this is the name of Xu Jinglei's new film.
There are few cartoons with such serious theme and strong tragic color.
Animation has its own advantages, the beauty of the picture, the idealization of the character's modality, and so on.
The story is ordinary, the trauma of war) Miyazaki often presents this theme. The greatness of family affection is what it wants to express, and of course, deeper things can also be excavated from it. And I thought, for cartoons, this kind of digging seems unnecessary. Cartoons do not show complex character states.
My mother died in the war, my father joined the army, and my brothers and sisters lived in my aunt's house. I couldn't bear the aunt's ridicule and disgust. I ran away and suddenly found that the setting was very similar to "My Brothers and Sisters". . Living in a mountain cave, my sister fell ill, and my brother was beaten for stealing food from other people's fields. When I learned that my father died in battle, my brother's last hope was shattered. Not long after his sister died, his brother died at the railway station.
This is the ultimate sensationalism, everyone is dead, but there is no nausea, because it is not a big reunion. That's where it's better than My Brothers and Sisters. It's no wonder that "Goodbye Firefly" was originally a layer higher in the kernel. It's not just about love. The way of expression is also higher, simplifying complexity, which is also the benefit of animation.
This simple story unfolds in the 80-minute film, the rhythm is slow, and the feeling is slightly depressing, but the optimistic or naive characters of the two brothers and sisters make the air of "sad" low and gentle, and it is this way , in the alternation of the two states of light and darkness, the theme of darkness and sadness becomes clearer and more moving at a certain moment. The most unforgettable thing is the unique laughter of the two brothers and sisters, each of which gently hits people's hearts. The elder brother's smile is clean and hearty, and the younger sister's smile is moist and playful, all pure and heartfelt. The voice acting is so good.
The main time of the film is set in summer, and the cave where the brothers and sisters live is dark, so they go to the river to catch fireflies together. A group of flying fireflies in the cave, such a scene is intoxicatingly beautiful, and my sister died under the fluorescence of the fireflies. So the film is also called "Grave of Fireflies".
Crying is crying. I don't know if it has anything to do with the "crying for a night" when my sister recommended it. It seems that if you don't cry, you will be cold-blooded. Many movies are like this. I am a little disgusted with such movies. Emotions deprive control of oppressive states, completely abandoning reason and disregarding reality. And this is a cartoon, I was moved to tears by a cartoon, which is somewhat suspicious. But I did cry, even if I squeezed. In fact, it’s okay, who calls it a cartoon? The cartoon is to give up reason and ignore the truth. I also don't need to criticize a handful of tears here.
Also, although I am considered so-called innocent, I don't like watching cartoons now, including fairy-tale fantasy movies, where death is basically nonsense.
