They in real life

Regardless of the filming, this film based on real events is worth watching.

I saw this a long time ago when I was looking at notorious cases in history in the crime library, and I was shocked at the time. After watching the movie today, I looked up background information on wikipedia.

Ann Perry (Juliet Hulme) published her first book in 1979 and has published nearly 50 Victorian detective novels. I don't know how many of these books are her imagination, and how many are her personal experiences. Her official website, the introduction she wrote herself, all skipped what happened in New Zealand in 1954.

In an interview in 2006, she denied that she had a gay relationship with Pauline at the time. She believed that they were just very close.

Pauline has never given any interviews, and she has always expressed a strong sense of remorse for the crimes committed that year.

Once the youthful passion that has no place to be ignited, it will always pay the price of destruction. Destroying love in the name of love is cruel and dazzling, but it is all around us, in our unconscious.

  • [shortly before the murder]

Juliet Hulme: [admiring the view that includes the path down the hill, where the murder occurred] Isn't it beautiful?

Pauline Parker: Let's go for a walk down here. Come on, Mummy!

Honorah Parker Rieper: Oh! No, I'd like a cup of tea, first. Come on!

[the girls reluctantly follow her into the tea-house]
