Hero's Victory, Vocation's Victory

The theme of hero rescue is not new in Hollywood, but after reading it, I still feel full of positive energy and blood, and I am amazed by it.

There are two main ones:

First, the narrative style is concise, clear, focused and eye-catching. It adopts a reverse sequence narrative, the beginning goes directly to the ending, the onion is peeled layer by layer, and the audience is led into the truth layer by layer. This narrative method is relatively simple to use in words, but it is not easy to handle it so well with images.

The second is behind the victory of heroes, the victory of vocation and the victory of the rule of law. Captain Sully showed his professionalism in the whole incident handling, not only in the emergency response to the accident itself, but also in the aftermath of the incident, always caring about the passengers. This is the sacred duty of a captain. Like the captain in Titanic, he was the last one to wrap up, and he didn't leave until everyone was safe to leave, awe-inspiring.

This is the case in all walks of life. If the person in charge can truly step out of the personal ego and focus on the mission and accusation, this is the victory of the rule of law society and the victory of the social order.

Sully quotes

  • LT Cook: A pilot never stops acquiring knowledge. You'll make mistakes, everyone does. Just learn from them.

Sully (16 Years Old): Yes, sir.

LT Cook: And never forget, no matter what's happening, to fly the airplane.

  • Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger: [New York late at night and both men can't sleep so they decide to go for a walk. It's cold outside and both are bundled up] It's all so unreal. I guess I'm just having a little trouble separating reality from whatever the hell this is.

Jeff Skiles: This is two men freezing their asses off.

    [They both laugh]

    Jeff Skiles: Sully

    [pause]

Jeff Skiles: don't worry. You did a great thing and it's going to be remembered for a very long time.

Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger: Funny thing is, I've delivered a million passengers over 40 years in the air and in the end I'll be judged on 208 seconds.

Jeff Skiles: Come on. Tomorrow's going to be a good day. Computer SIMS will prove you were right and we can all put our wings back on.

Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger: Do you want to run?

[Both men go jogging on down the street]
