Between the memory and the novel, there are two things that have a profound impact on me: 1. In the novel, the male protagonist's daughter was tortured in various ways, and finally was brutally murdered, and wrote about Edward's inner feelings after knowing Susan's abortion. The accusation against the murderer at the end of the novel is actually telling Susan, I want to know if she (unborn daughter) is in pain, what was she thinking at the time! 2. What Susan's mother said finally became reality. Susan became like her own mother. The reason why she liked Edward at the beginning also became the reason for leaving him!
