The movie also presents “useful lessons” in the subtle arts of presidential leadership and the practice of politics, at once grimy and sublime.” The political method they used in the movie based on the real history, the behavior and the alert reaction, which took, by Lincoln. This is where the movie has a huge success on, but this is also the place I want to talk about my suggestion. The leadership skill that Lincoln is practicing and the strategies his cabinet were using was art. I am surprised by what an integrity person he was, and his true love to the American people including the slaves.The film did such a great job in using the atmosphere to reveal the art of politics. Lincoln is the person who loves telling the stories and the jokes. His stories was all short, but meaningful. He is good at using this way to persuading people and makes others to be on the same boat with him. In addition, he was also an amazing lecturer. In the beginning of the movie, his lecture in Gettysburg: "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth” can recited by the soldiers, which means he is revered by his people. The eloquent of the Thaddeus Stevens also can reflect the art of the language and the politics. A lot of details in the film can reflect the political method that they are still using today and the right decision they made reveal a historical significance in the society today, we could say,without Lincoln, Obama could not be the president of the United States. Nevertheless, in opinion, I suggest that the in the terms of presenting the charm of the personality of Lincoln, they should spend more time in the film to present how did Lincoln solve the unsolvable problem.
When we look at Lincoln in this perspective; he is not solid enough, it is superficial to some point. He is a legend, but he is the one who has no flaws and no personal or even human issues . The movie used different visions help us interpret the human Lincoln himself. He is a leader, but he is also a father, a husband and a human who has pleasure, anger, sorrow and joy. In the beginning of the film, the interaction between Lincoln and his son was so warm and so careful. When he carried the boy on his back, I can see a love and kind dad who is taking care of his daughter, I can even see his soft heart. Lincoln is also the person who has family issues. He does not have a very harmonious family. His second wife did not really understand him, and had some mental diseases.The conversation between him and his wife made you feel the sadness that came from a normal husband. In the middle of the film, when Lincoln's son wanted to be a soldier, his struggling in the family, between his wife and the son dramatic came out and perfectly conduct Lincoln's role as a father, a husband and the conflict with his role as a president. There is also a part of the movie that was a great part i want to talk about. The most astonishing thing in this movie that amazed me was how Lincoln and other Americans respect the constitution of America, that as also the whole point that they must past the 13th amendment. In the early part of the movie, Lincoln explained the reason why they need to pass the 13th amendment before the peace talk. Admit or not, the attitude the early president towards the constitution can difference them from autocrats. In the slavery society in 19th century, even in the civil war, they choose to use law to make sure the freedom of all the slaves and their offspring. Winning the civil war do not means they can just abolish the slavery and also do not means they can use subjective judgments to decide everything. I am astonished but severe them for respecting the constitution.
This is such a great film that not only reflects the history, but also has a highly achievement on the art of the film.
