Legal human rights are the foundation, and the soundness and development of a society requires the improvement and efforts of the legal system. Law, law, law, the sanctity of the Constitution shines brightly in this film, and I can see their respect for the Constitution, not because they can't break through it and change it, but because it deserves to be respected. I envy their legal spirit. Rules are the norm and the last line of defense.
There are many ideas in watching the film, such as the legal system, such as human rights, such as progress made by blood, such as ideals and perseverance... But the most shocking thing is when Lincoln finally walked out of the house at the end of the film. The basic knowledge of history made me deeply impressed. Sigh, history cannot be reversed, the assassination does not have many descriptions, but the back is actually a heavy end.
That's how I thought of "Oh Captain, My Captain" by Walt Whitman:
Oh Captain! My Captain
Oh Captain! My Captain! Our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But Oh heart! heart! heart!
Oh the bleeding drops of red!
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
Oh Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up -for you the flag is flung -for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths-for you the shores crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turing;
Here, Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck
You 've fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm , he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done ;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult, Oh shores! and ring, Oh bells!
But I,with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
The first time was in "Spring Wind and Rain" I know this poem from here, but I don't know until today, what exactly does such a captain represent~ I don't know if the idea of setting up the ship when Lincoln was dreaming in the film came from this poem by Whitman in mourning Lincoln ~
