The problem is that the story is not well told

Speaking of "Finding Nemo 1", it's the first Pixar animation I've ever seen. I can't recall the specific storyline, but the impression is that this movie is really interesting. Because of this, I also looked up and watched Pixar's previous films, and I have been paying attention to them since then, until now. When I was in college, when I read computer graphics materials, I saw that "Sea 1" had many technological breakthroughs in simulating the relationship between water and light and shadow, and I felt even more that this film was really good. So, I was excited to watch it this week when it was just released. The first time I went to the cinema, there were no seats left. It took me a day to go back to see it. However, when I walked out of the movie theater, I still felt quite disappointed. Maybe it was because of various factors that my expectations were too high. But when I think about it carefully, I still feel that Pixar's sincerity is really not enough.

As a cartoon, the main audience is of course children. But isn't this Pixar? Isn't it supposed to be able to write scripts that see different content for different age groups? (When I said this, I was a little worried, if I was stupid and didn't see what to do with that layer O_o...) There are only two contexts I can think of: the bright line is "blue fish looking for parents", The dark line is "parents looking for blue fish". At most, add a dark line to protect the environment (this is relatively hidden, and it can’t be counted as a line, but there are many details in the film that show the problem of marine pollution). There is absolutely no problem with such a story, the problem is that the story is not told well. The whole story seems trivial and uncohesive; the plot is like a mess of sand that doesn't really move people. That's because the story is driven entirely by Blue Fish's memories, which doesn't seem convincing. Every time the bluefish recalls something, the plot advances, but the developments between the episodes have little causal relationship since the bluefish's recollections are also almost random. When I watched it, I was always in a mood to wait and see if there would be anything else. Then, in this mood, the film ended.

If I had to say one plot that moved me, it might be the plot of the bluefish parents covering the sea floor with shells. For a moment, I thought of my parents who were not around. They may also be looking forward to my return home one day. But this is not so strong, because the story is written with the main line of the blue fish finding himself and facing his own shortcomings; and the blue fish's parents' love for her is not emphasized, which is even similar to the clown. The friendship and affection of the fish father and son are juxtaposed. Another reason is that I always think that fish will have many, many babies, so it should not be the case that the parent fish is alone waiting for the blue fish. In short, this little plot can't salvage the bad truth of the story.

In addition, in order to illustrate the point of "people (fish) have the courage to face their own flaws", there are countless times that the bluefish parents encouraged the little bluefish, the clownfish father and son encouraged the bluefish, and the bluefish himself gave his own encouragement to the bluefish. Encourage. These are ok in normal times, but in such a mediocre story, it seems very annoying.

The film is originally a sequel, and the models of many scenes and most characters can be reused. The "production cost" of the film is actually not high. The story is so tepid, and the visual effects of the film are very general. Due to my experience as an intern in a visual effects company, I still pay a lot of attention to the picture. According to the data, Pixar has indeed invested a lot of new technologies in this film. There are a few scenes where I look up at the bottom of the sea, and there are scenes where light is thrown into the water, interspersed with aquatic plants or other objects. The lighting effects are still great. The problem, however, is that going from "no" to "yes", or "yes" to "good" is a very noticeable improvement. And then, the feeling of going from "good" to "better" doesn't produce much excitement. In addition, there is no refreshing scene design in the whole film, and the seabed and aquarium are quite satisfactory. Obviously the sea is a place where people can have a lot of reverie.

Looking at Pixar's movies last year there was inside out and the good dinosaur. Although there are two unprecedented, but it took two years. Also, the dinosaur one is a landscape movie (of course, I thought the visuals were so good that I ignored the story). Check out the list of movies from the next few years: 2017 car3, coco; 2018 Toy Story 4; 2019 Incredibles 2. Three of the four are sequels. By default, cars receive the money from car sponsors, so don't expect it. Coco must be the most anticipated, because I don't know anything. Based on ts3 is not bad, ts4 can generally expect. Based on the fact that Incredibles already has a lot of superhuman elements, i2 may be able to expect a small amount, but if it is made into a superhero movie, I don't know what to do. Judging from the film schedule, Pixar is going further and further on the road of living on its own. I don't deny that sequels can still be great, but it's clearly a sign of creative exhaustion. Look at Disney again. In recent years, it has gradually gotten rid of the theme of princess and prince. After acquiring Marvel, there is more room for development. In recent years, there have been good animation works. In such an environment, where does Pixar go?
