Before watching the movie, I didn't know the history of Robin Hood, but in my impression, Robin Hood was an archer , he robbed the rich to help the poor, and attacked the local corrupt bureaucrats, which won the hearts of the people. But in the process of watching this movie, I once wondered if Robin Hood had changed jobs here... Although he was an archer, Brother Russell seemed to tell us: "I, Robin Hood, should be a gladiator!". When I saw the end, I thought the movie should be called The New Robin Hood.
After watching the movie, I learned about the relevant information, and then I realized that the director intended to create a completely different Robin Hood image. Although the courage is commendable, in my opinion, the Robin Hood image in this film does not have the heroic characters of the past. The kind of momentum, in other words, the director did not highlight the personal characteristics of the protagonist. After watching it, I can't think of any words to describe the most prominent trait of Robin Hood in the film, which makes me very disappointed with the director who once created the classic "Gladiator".
In addition, the plot aspect, I am puzzled. First of all, I think the last Anglo-French landing battle was entirely caused by a woman, the new king's queen of France, after listening to his advice, was the new king willing to attack the traitor? And as a relative of the so-called king of France, there is no role at all between Britain and France? Finally became the Queen of England? Strange. In the last battle, what surprised me was that a sheep (the king) led a group of lions to fight. Although it was to highlight the role of the protagonist, in my opinion, it was of little use, and it might have paved the way for the king to want Robin Hood later.
The war scene became the only pretext, and the siege at the beginning and the landing battle at the end were only less convincing highlights.
In order to create a new Robin Hood, the director forgot how to shape this new character from all aspects. In the end, the director seemed to remember Robin Hood's job: the archer... It seems that the director is still immersed in the fame of "Gladiator" down below...
