Grief should be layered

Plot: 4 stars, performance: 3 stars I watched the movie with anticipation, bitter cold wind, biting sadness, but that's all. Considering the compliments from the circle of friends and some media, the comparison between the two makes me even more disappointed! The emotional drama of the whole film is rough and leafy, neither delicate enough nor deep enough. At the beginning of the film, the director is describing Lee's depression, and then he is depressed to the end. The film itself is not very good at showing sadness and depression. Coupled with the director's choice, a lot of details of life are missing, so that Lee's depression always surfaced, giving people a feeling of being scratched and unable to penetrate the hearts of the people. Personally, in expressing such sad themes, it is important to be immersed and empathetic. But this movie makes people feel that the director is like a child who has just learned to speak. He is afraid that he will forget what to say in a while, and he will finish all the words in one breath... As a result, he could have been slow, orderly, and every detail. The unfolding plot, which is clear from the beginning, has written a novel into a summary. It is also the expression of being immersed in sadness and unable to extricate oneself. It is Hirokazu-eda's "Non-Stop" that is much more brilliant. After the old lady played by Shu Xilin said vicious words to the fat man who was rescued by her son with her life, it will make your back go cold. You will find that: it turns out that all the carelessness shown in the movie was intentional by the director. The characters in the film are all fake, there is no forgiveness, there is no redemption, some are just deep hatred! But "Manchester by the Sea" is stretched in this respect, dwarfed by comparison. After watching the whole film, there is only disappointment and confusion, and I said in my heart: Huh? Is this the end? You let me watch this with your pants off? The richness of emotional details and the differences in layers shown in these two films are like the difference in the scenery of the two countries: one side is the vast natural scenery of the United States, which is large and beautiful, but it is a pity to see at a glance; the other side is the mountains of Japan Small Zen Temple, small, beautiful and progressive, with endless aftertastes.
