A few thoughts on contact with time and space

A hard science fiction masterpiece with a very large amount of information, which is worth a long aftertaste.
1. About science and religion. Ellie was eliminated because she didn't believe in God, reminding me of Newton's concentrating on studying God in his later years. In our textbooks, this is recorded in history as the flaw of a great scientist. After watching this film, you will feel that religion and science are intertwined. The relationship between them must not be as simple as black and white.
2. About honesty. At the last moment of the selection, when she was the most favored by everyone, Ellie honestly said that she did not believe in God and was eliminated. This is different from the vast majority of people who have two completely different discourse systems in formal and private situations and can be proficient in it. How different is the seamless transition to the ground freely.
3. Anticipation of anti-terrorism. When the launch test entered the countdown, there were extremists who were full of explosives mixed in and eventually caused the launcher to explode. However, the film was filmed before 9/11, and individual terrorists can change the direction of the world. It will be verified in the near future .
4. About "Three-Body Problem". I don't know if Liu Cixin was influenced by this movie when he created "The Three-Body Problem", but in the movie, you can see the shadows of Hong'an Base, Ye Wenjie, Yun Tianming, and the three stories. And, how terrifying it is for those affected by the Three-Body Law of the Dark Forest to actively send signals out and hope for extraterrestrial feedback.
5. About possible tidbits. I laughed when the film saw Harden say that the second launcher was secretly installed in Japan. If the film was filmed now, I believe it would have been built in China. Like Apple, the U.S. developed it and made it in China.

that awe, humility, and hope, the writing is so good, it fully expresses my feelings about the universe and science. It's really good, Jodie Foster's performance is unspeakably good, and those words are so moving by her. What's hard to express is that when I finally saw for Carl, I was suddenly shocked because this is a scientific film full of emotions. No wonder the emotions are so full. A very, very, very sincere movie

  • Ellie Arroway: What I meant to say is that the message was written in the language of science. Now if it had been religious in nature it should have taken form of a burning bush or a big booming voice from the sky.

Palmer Joss: But a voice from the sky is exactly what you found, Dr Arroway!

  • Dr. Kent Clark: Uh... These are government-owned telescopes, they can lease them to whomever they want. And they don't want the high priestess of the desert using them anymore.

    Ellie Arroway: What?

Dr. Kent Clark: Staring at static on TV for hours at a time, listening to washing machines. Did you really think these stories wouldn't get out?

Ellie Arroway: I was looking for patterns in the chaos, come on!

Dr. Kent Clark: It doesn't matter anymore! We're a joke to them, they want us out.
