I just finished watching "Hannibal" and I was really impressed by Hopps's handsome, elegant and erudite yet ruthless.
People who haven't read the original novel or the same series of movies may not understand it, but this does not hinder the development of the plot. Just remember that Hannibal Lecter was a thoughtful and almost crazy psychiatrist.
From the thief's death all the way to Mason, everything he does seems to be in control and unhurried.
