Netflix tried it out for a month, and I watched a movie while eating pickled chicken feet for dinner. It seems that the movie looks even better!
The girl Violet is delicate and sensitive in adolescence, and the rough father tries hard to help his daughter win back the boy's goodwill. The burly man surrounded the three children at home and turned to exhaustion. On the one hand, he envied and hated his wife for shining bright outside instead of being equally capable. Travel, relationships, risk; every meaningful experience must be packaged and delivered to you to watch at a distance so that you can remain ever-sheltered, ever-passive, ever-ravenous consumers who can't bring themselves to rise from their couches, break a sweat, and participate in life. You want superheroes to protect you and make yourselves ever more powerless in the process; while you tell yourself you're being "looked after", that your interests are being served,and your rights are being upheld. So that the system can keep stealing from you, smiling at you all the while. Go ahead, send your supers to stop me. Grab your snacks, watch your screens, and see what happens. You are no longer in control. I am.
Yes, I feel like I'm sitting in front of the TV - watching a movie with Superman as the protagonist, instead of living a certain ordinary but wonderful life with myself as the protagonist - I've been sharply satirized!
