High school girl Hannah described thirteen reasons for her suicide, including the betrayal of her "boyfriend", the use of alex and gay women, the misunderstanding of Jessica, the targeting of the black president of the student union, and the mother's treasure. There's petty theft, there's a cameramaniac, there's Bryce's sexual assault, and Clay's "inappropriate" departure and another woman's departure after hitting a traffic sign. Some of the people who hurt her are broken families and bad relationships. Hannah witnesses Jessica being sexually assaulted and chooses not to speak out to show her "self-weakness", which often leads to a strong sense of guilt, and many things are forcibly held accountable. It is an overly powerful "superego".
