It can be said that there is no year in the 21st century more suitable for thinking about the meaning of life and life than 2020. From this point of view, when "Soul" was released, there were too many thoughts and interpretations about life in the film, and it was worth savoring carefully.
·Back to the beginning of life
Joey, who was supposed to be at the end of his life, falls into the academy that leads to the earth and cultivates soul babies. Here, qualities such as enthusiasm, indifference, cheerfulness, and introversion are given to babies, and even babies who are cunning, annoying, selfish and other "negative qualities" have their own value and are accepted. Reminiscent of the other animated movie Inside Out, every emotion has value, it's them that make up the whole world. These consciousnesses must be the starting point of "approving the self"
·About loss and reunion
Joey accidentally became the spiritual mentor of the twenty-two baby, and the task was to help him find the missing "spark" and arrive on earth to be born.
The soul without the body has no sense of taste and touch, and Twenty-two feels that everything is tasteless and unlovable. The "spark" that finally ignited him was not the sea of stars, or the "goal of life" in Joey's mouth, but the real and insignificant moments in life, perhaps walking, watching the sky, eating pizza, or maybe it was given by the barber shop master. Candy, perhaps it is the falling leaves, or the melodious melody of a busker at the subway entrance. It hits you in an instant and makes you feel that "being alive is interesting and beautiful".
· In fact, beauty has always been there
There was a little girl in Joey's band who knocked on his door angrily and said she wanted to quit, the band was pointless. It was Joey, who was possessed by Twenty-Two, and she sat on the knees. After venting her emotions, the little girl wanted to play her new song for the last time. Twenty-two was fascinated by her concentration and devotion, and said, "This has always been your favorite." It's like Joey's loss of life after all the hardships he's had to make his dream come true, and his jazz idol's "You're in the ocean right now".
There are turbulent waves, wind and rain, lightning and thunder, and there are sunsets in the west, the stars in the sky, and the moonlight. Feelings and even bored haze; live happily.
