I started watching it on 8.4 and didn't finish it until I went to bed at night on 8.5
At the beginning, the film had several impressions:
1 cool movie, the protagonist halo, modern people travel through, become the leader of the tribe
2 The protagonist Wei Guangzheng leads the Arabs to unite and move towards independence
3 Nationalism in the Ottoman Empire was incited and the country was divided
4 The Arabs speak English, which is very similar to the Japanese speaking Chinese in the anti-Japanese drama?
For example, in this scene, the pleasant music in the movie is the same as the liberation of the people. I see these scenes, accompanied by upbeat music is more disgusting, because such a narrative, obviously from the British perspective. In the eyes of Turkey, Arabs are naked "traitors" who have given up their "motherland" and turned to become British "colonies".
There is also this scene, where the Arabs robbed the Turks' train, and the horses galloped. However, Turkey and Arabia belong to the same faith and are close to the same culture, but the Arabs stabbed Turkey in the back in the name of "freedom".
The first half of the film depicts Turkey as a dictator whose tribal Arab people are being rallied by Lawrence against the dictatorship. If the movie just said that, it would definitely be disappointing.
In the second half of the film, Lawrence led the Arabs to establish a parliament in Damascus, but the dispute over the interests of the original Arab tribes made it difficult for the parliament to be established. Primitive tribes directly entered the legal parliamentary system, without any inheritance, and the future is full of uncertainty. Now the chaos in the Middle East has been determined since World War I.
Lawrence also realized that he was only a pawn of Britain and France. Some people only tell the truth, and some [British politicians] only tell lies, like Lawrence "half true, half false", and they don't know what the truth is.
"Lawrence of Arabia" can be regarded as a large-scale production, trying to restore the appearance of Arab tribes during World War I, without losing the reflection of British and French ideology, and it is considered a top production. [It is recommended to understand the background of the First World War in the Ottoman Empire before watching, it will be more satisfying. 】
