beautiful world

David Lean really has a top-notch aesthetic. The desert under his lens is expansive and breathtakingly beautiful. In the desolate desert, a thrilling story is staged.

After creating a glorious culture, Arabia, a nation with a thousand-year history of civilization, quickly fell into weakness and infighting. The Arabs of different tribes and sects hate each other and are in the same boat. During the First World War, they fought bravely with Lawrence, winning one victory after another until they successfully captured Damascus. I thought this was a victory for independence and freedom, but I didn't expect that the victory on the battlefield was the beginning of the tragic fate in the future. After being used by Britain and France, the Arabs were abandoned and betrayed. The fate of the Arabs was decided without the presence of the Arabs. To this day, the Arab world is still a tinderbox of tug-of-war. The world is as full of conspiracy, betrayal, and evil as it was a thousand years ago. There will always be people being enslaved, and there will always be people with vested interests.

Why can't the world be a better world? Why can't humans be better humans? If all evil taken together is a mighty force, so too is all righteousness taken together. I believe the best parts of human nature - justice, courage, perseverance, wisdom, nobility always win more hearts. It is with these characteristics that human beings get rid of ignorance and move towards civilization.

I think even as small as me, there should be some grand wishes. I hope there will be no stories like Lawrence in the world, I hope there will be no enslaved people in the world, I hope that human beings can evolve to a higher civilization, and I hope that human beings in the future can live in a beautiful world.

Lawrence of Arabia quotes

  • Sherif Ali: I do not understand this. Your father's name is Chapman...

T.E. Lawrence: Ali, he didn't marry my mother.

    Sherif Ali: I see.

    T.E. Lawrence: I'm sorry.

Sherif Ali: It seems to me that you are free to choose your own name, then.

  • Mr. Dryden: Well. It seems we're to have a British waterworks with an Arab flag on it. Do you think it was worth it?

General Allenby: Not my business. Thank God I'm a soldier.

Mr. Dryden: Yes, sir. So you keep saying.
