I don't have much to say about Pennsylvania. It may be the oldest place in the United States. Just like Massachusetts, Philadelphia, God, it must be a sophisticated city. So the Philadelphia story, just like the Philadelphia Roll, is unique and sophisticated, but not unappetizing.
This film is not pure romance, in fact I think it is not romantic at all in terms of romance, because Jimmy finally got together with Katherine, but they couldn't be together forever. In fact, the two of them are not concentric. It's just Katherine's curiosity for a while. Frankly speaking, there are three men, one is boring, and the other is an abominable ex-husband. If you are drunk, who should you choose? Can't talk to the servant.
There is almost no immature in this film, from old to young, they are all mature. This is a real adult game, sharp, sophisticated, seemingly smart, but sometimes stupid. In many movies, it is a game between adults and children, or male mature female young teeth, or vice versa. Phillies are like Philadelphia, as if they have gone through a century of baptism and are already old after birth. They are different from those in NYC's family. Their craziness is conscious and they know it very well.
I like it very much. Although I haven't seen what Cukor has done, it is also an ability for a director to make good-looking scenes if others can't see what he has done.
