Terrible future setting

I'm not interested in this film's political allegory, but I want to say a few words about the future setting of this space opera.
In the era in the film, human beings have been able to achieve space navigation and enter other galaxies, but the tactics of World War I are still used in combat. Look at the landing on the insect star, 100,000 armored infantry, (wait, the so-called armor is the god worn by the infantry. The so-called bulletproof vest that horses are not immune to) ran off the spaceship in a chaotic manner, just like a World War I battle scene on the Western Front, even that is not as good. The British army in the Somme had also thrown in tanks, and even in the Battle of Verdun, both sides had prepared for artillery fire. As for the blitzkrieg during World War II, the most basic space-to-ground coordination was completely absent. The army still uses projectile weapons, and this kind of rifle is basically useless against bugs. The human expedition fleet ran all the way to the orbit of the insect star, but was shot down by unguided insect rays. Are these spaceships dead and unable to move? There are no countermeasures, and there are no nuclear weapons! !
Even if you don’t need nuclear weapons in order to occupy resources and focus on conventional warfare, I ask the editors and directors. In 1997, the Gulf War was over for 6 years, and CNN has no one! Do you know cruise missiles? Do you know ground attack aircraft? Air Force bombing understand? No matter how bad it is to get an armored vehicle, even if it is not protected against rays, at least it should not be difficult to achieve a material that is stronger than insect claws, anti-grabbing and anti-penetration. In fact, these are all about the cost of the film. The funds of this film are estimated to be able to make the interstellar war into a ten thousand-level gangster fight. There is even an instructor throwing a flying knife to teach the students that modern weapons are useless, a Boxer style.

In fact, these don't have much impact on the theme of the film, but it feels awkward to watch. I think the background of this script is placed in ancient times, such as the Romans fighting the barbarians, and the warriors of the Latin civilization world can't resist the tide anyway. The nomadic cavalry that came... It's more suitable. In the future, this setting is too bad.

Starship Troopers quotes

  • [as the unloading of Mobile Infantry from the starfleet continues, one transport is hit and destroyed by planetary bug plasma energy fire as hundreds of plasma energy bolts are flying all around the starfleet]

Captain Deladier: This isn't random or light. Someone made a mistake.

Zander: That's it. Drop status is 100%. We're empty, ma'am.

[suddenly in front of them, a starship's starboard engines are hit by plasma energy fire. Captain Deladier, Carmen and Zander look in horror as the ship veers off course and crashes into another starship, setting both afire]

Captain Deladier: Someone made a BIG goddamn mistake! Break for high orbit! Evasive action, now!

  • Carl: So you haven't done it yet, have you? Don't lie!

Johnny Rico: I'm not in any hurry.

Carl: [Indicating Dizzy Flores] Others are waiting.

Johnny Rico: [Looking at Dizzy] Did you read her mind?

Carl: Don't have to. It's pretty clear what she wants.

Johnny Rico: Yeah, but I want Carmen.

Carl: Oh, you got it bad!
