Beyond the times, still beautiful

The title is "The First Knight", so the film focuses on Lancelot, about how he became a member of the Knights of the Round Table and became the first knight. However, because of the small time span and insufficient performance, the film cannot be convinced that he can win the reputation of "first knight" by just a few brave moves. Regrettably, the other Knights of the Round Table were not shown, and the whole film seemed too thin.
Many places in the film are beyond that era, such as the magnificence of Camelot and the gorgeous costumes of the Knights of the Round Table, which make people more reminiscent of the post-Renaissance, rather than the Anglo-Saxon era of the fifth and sixth centuries. The most in line with the Middle Ages in the film is the dress and style of Queen Guenevere. The dress is tailored to fit, the hairstyle is classical, and there is no excessive decoration, but it shows nobleness and elegance. Her bravery, determination and loyalty are also impressive. Although she is attracted by the young and brave Lancelot from time to time, she is very aware of her situation and defends her dignity. In one scene, when Lancelot asked her who she would choose if she could choose freely, Guenevere's answer was "I'm as free as you are", which immediately made people awe and appreciate. Just as the love between the two people was moving in the direction of the noble spiritual love, the scene of a passionate kiss occurred, and the previous sublime instantly collapsed, which indirectly led to the death of King Arthur. it is a pity! Sean Connery's King Arthur is steady, wise, and more like an elder and father. I don't know if the age of King Arthur in reality is so much older than Lancelot and Guenevere. In any case, although the image of King Arthur is not so young and handsome, but the calm image can still be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. As for Richard Gere as the first knight, he always felt too modern.
The Middle Ages in the film is not a dark age, but full of colors. What is impressive is the large grassland, which is very comfortable. Although it is out of the times, the observability is still good. I personally think it is better than "King Arthur", "Tristan and Isolde" and other films that talk about the Middle Ages.
