Crime and punishment

After watching this movie, I know why such a classic old movie is so little known in China.
Because the questions raised in the film are worthy of reflection for everyone: who should be responsible for the war, and in what name should the people of the defeated country be judged.

First of all, the plot of this movie arouses people's interest: it is the judges of the victorious country that will try the judges of the defeated country.

The reason for the victorious country was that the judges of these defeated countries assisted in the abuse. When the Nazis were in politics, they not only failed to uphold justice and humiliated the dignity of the law, but also assisted the Nazis in implementing many inhumane bills.
Among the four judges on trial, Jian Ning had the best attitude, not only attitude, but also from reflection: After
Germany was defeated in the First World War, the country's economy was in a state of decay due to huge indemnities. Hitler's rise to power not only improved people's livelihood, promoted economic development, resolved employment, and boosted national strength, but also greatly cultivated national self-confidence and pride. Can such a person not be welcomed by the people? He took the Germans out of the shadow of World War I and low self-esteem, and gave Germany strength and hope. He hoped that he could lead people across Europe to develop like Germany, so he kept using force to achieve his grand goal. . In terms of Hitler's rhetoric, if his dream comes true, it will really be a gospel to the Europeans. With the efforts of Hitler and the Nazi Party, the hard truth convinced people that everything Hitler did was for the happiness of the people of the whole country. There is no reason not to support him. The servants in the movie also said that Hitler did do it for the Germans. Many good things, such as building roads.
Under such circumstances, even the judges have lost their judgment, let alone mortals? And he didn't like Hitler himself.
In the film, Mrs. Burhout complained for her husband: her husband did not like the Nazis and Hitler, but as a soldier, his duty is to obey orders. But in the end her husband was executed;
at the same time, many people did not know about the concentration camp because it was executed by the SS, stormtroopers and secret police.
In this trial, the defense of the defendant Jian Ning’s lawyer was very wonderful, and his questions were directed towards the hearts of the people:

Jian Ning once said: "Our achievements are based on our lofty ideals." Why do we succeed? How about other countries in the world? Don't they know the intentions of the Third Reich? Didn't they hear Hitler's words spreading around the world? Could it be that they published his intentions in Mayne Campfrey, which was published in countries all over the world? Where are the responsibilities of the Soviet Union, the country that signed the agreement with Hitler in 1939 and instigated him to wage war? Can we convict the Soviet Union? The Vatican signed an agreement with Hitler in 1933 to make his prestige reach its peak. Where is its responsibility? Can we convict the Vatican? Is Churchill the responsibility of the world leader? In 1938, in 1938! He said in an open letter in the "London Times" that when England has suffered a national disaster, I should pray to God to send a smart and resolute Hitler. Can we convict Churchill? Where is the responsibility of those American industrialists? These people helped Hitler make weapons and benefit from them. Can we convict these American industrialists? No, Mr. Judge, no, only the Germans are innocent, and the whole world should be responsible for Hitler and Germany. It is easy to convict a person on the trial bench. It is easy to say that the German system and citizens were wrong for Hitler to come to power, but at the same time they signed an agreement with the Soviets and Churchill praised him and the Americans for helping him. Turn a blind eye to the system and national mistakes.
Jianning said that he was wrong, and if this is the case, Jianning’s sin is the sin of the whole world.

If they are all guilty, the Russians, the British, and the Americans are also guilty. Why are other people/countries not being tried, and why should the Americans only judge them?
But the story of a king who succeeds and Kou who loses.
If the Americans are defeated and the Germans are defeated, perhaps the persons in the dock and the trial seats have to be replaced. In this trial, the American judges of the victorious country said that the German judges of the defeated country had no presidency, and when they performed the law. If it is, it can be used by Judge Jianing on Dan, Guantis and other American judges. From this point of view, the trial of these judges is nothing more than a political game, because the law is not neutral under such circumstances, but is a victory over the country. Law is not a representative of justice here, but a doll of politics. As stated in the movie, although these people were sentenced, they were finally released because of political needs.
It is conceivable that if the United States fights with Iraq, and the United States loses and Iraq occupies the United States, then it is not Saddam who is tried and sent to the gallows, but Bush is tried and sent to the gallows. Take a look at Judge Hahn’s final statement: The Germans are fighting for their lives and must take specific measures to ensure that it is not invaded by foreign enemies. How similar this is to the saying that the United States is fighting the war on terrorism.
Through this movie, the so-called victorious nation can be very good to reflect on: What role did we play in this world tragedy? We have always said that justice must prevail. The world's movie stories are all about the victory of justice, but after watching this movie, I feel that justice is only after victory. In other words, it is not that justice will prevail, but that victory must be justice. And this reminds me of another sentence: The reason why evil wins is because justice sits on the sidelines.

I think this is what the Chinese government has always said that most Japanese are innocent? Ordinary kind people are victims of a system, an idea, a propaganda voice and a machine?
It is easy to condemn others, but it is difficult to reflect on yourself.
