What is rock? A person who is over 30 years old and not doing a proper job may give us the best answer. He refuses commercial kitsch and bows his head, knowing that the true meaning of rock and roll is never to surrender to the "boss". In fact, the director interprets the most essential spirit of rock and roll through him, not through music, not through a suit, but with a clear attitude, jumping out and saying no to the world.
It is such a person who lives and eats at a friend's house and behaves differently in the band. From the image point of view, he is simply a sloppy and fat person. Because of an accidental opportunity, he formed a rock band at school. He told the students to fight against the "boss", whether it is housework or study, any imposed rules, we must rebel to the end.
There are some realistic plots in the movie, which made me feel the kindness of the director. During the parent-teacher meeting, the parents were not moved by Dewey's explanation; the male protagonist was not with the principal; his band didn't get a bonus in the end. These are the real world that rock and roll has to face. When your friends have given up the original rock and roll spirit, can you keep rocking? Rebellious?
I've been listening very little to real rock music, maybe it has something to do with the age of my life, maybe it has something to do with my personality. Between the silent majority and the rebellious minority, I'm only the part that occasionally thinks. Today's domestic pure rock has its vitality only in the underground. There is no Cui Jian and the three heroes of the magic rock in the 1980s. Pop music and even Internet songs are all popular. But I believe that rock and roll representing rebelliousness will always exist, because the uniqueness of these few is indispensable in any era. Just like a person's bones, there are always some bright edges and corners that will never be worn away by time.
