It's a really good movie about human nature. Use the background and mode of the Cthulhu myth to show the choices of different people in the face of fate.
The protagonist has hope and has been actively moving forward to find a breakthrough, but lacks planning and thinking.
And people with weak hearts turn to cults when they see monsters, and there are also superstitious religious elements to deceive people. They are all poor people who have given up thinking.
The shooter's argument is deeply rooted in my heart, that society is the collective of the whole world. When the closed environment is closed, the established rules of the past are broken, and people will take the initiative to stand aside in order to comfort each other and shirk their responsibilities. It is not unreasonable for them to think that they can obtain redemption by killing and offering sacrifices. No one can say anything about the sacrifice of evil gods. Maybe the magic stick is actually holding "The Secret of Worms"?
The ending is too funny, but in addition to being funny, I also feel that it shows human nature very well. No hope is despair. The male protagonist has always taken the initiative to find a way out. When the road is broken, he gives up thinking. Be warned. We can't give up thinking at any time, but... it was really desperate at that time. Even if the ammunition and food are exhausted, maybe the army will appear in the next second. Will anyone be desperate? What should we do in such a situation? Very thoughtful

The Mist quotes

  • Wayne Jessup: I heard stuff.

    Mrs. Carmody: Stuff...

Wayne Jessup: Yeah, we all heard stuff! Like uh, how they... they thought that there were other dimensions. You know, other... other worlds all around us, and how they wanted to try to make a window, you know, so they can look through and see what's on the other side.

Mrs. Carmody: Well maybe your window turned out to be a door. Isn't it?

Wayne Jessup: Not my door! It's the scientists!

Mrs. Carmody: [sarcastically] Oh, the scientists.

Wayne Jessup: Yes, the scientists! They must've ripped a hole through by accident. That's how their world keeps on spilling through into ours. That's what Donaldson was saying right before he killed himself. I didn't understand half of it.

  • Dan Miller: [after the car runs out of gas] Well, we gave it a good shot. Nobody can say we didn't.
