If you only watch the first half, it's basically a horror movie. The monster, the father protecting his son, and the terrified crowd, that's all. However, after watching the second half, you will find that the connotation of this movie has already surpassed the category of American sensual horror movies.
Fear is an innate human feeling. No matter how advanced human science and technology develops and how powerful civilization develops, there is still a fear of the dark night and something unknown and irresistible.
In the face of fear, there are many options.
Dreadnought is a kind of small shop assistant who is extraordinarily brave to rush out of the shop door to clean the dirt from the engine exhaust port, ignoring the threat of monsters.
Trembling to meet fear is also a form. The mother was going to find her son, even though she already knew the danger, even though she begged for someone to accompany her to go out with no one to meet her, she walked out of the store and disappeared into the mist, leaving only one sentence, " I curse you."
Running away is the most common way, hiding in a place that isn't actually safe at all and lying to yourself. Because some people are also afraid, in fact, their own fears are not so difficult to accept.
When a child faces fear, of course, he can't resist it at all, and the only one he can rely on is his own father. The son said to his father, "Dad, please give me a promise and don't leave me." The father hugged him, tears welling in his eyes. Faced with such a request from his son, at that moment, I believed that the father was fearless.
When the fear is too great to bear, people will become dependent on any so-called miracles and speeches about miracles, just like grabbing a life-saving straw, and they will never let go. Even if it is to release the illusory straw and let them do anything that goes against morality, ethics, and all unreasonable things that go against the foundation of civilized society, they will not hesitate. Maybe that's how religion came about, and all the terrible things in religion, the present and the future. For people in this environment, fear is probably separated from the original things, and comes from the people around them. Because any dissenting voice will be seen as a challenge to faith, and by extension, it is a challenge to one's own safety. Of course, this logic is completely absurd. However, no one can think rationally anymore, the only thing that can be done is blind obedience and desperate madness to prove their loyalty.
A group of people outside the faith bravely escaped the threat of the beliefs around them and plunged into the fog. When a car of people slowly passed the store, the expressions of the people in the car and the store were quite complicated. I don't know if it was the person in the car who was glad that he had the opportunity to escape the source of his fear, and then the people in the store looked envious. The people in the car were still apprehensive about the unpredictable danger, and then the people in the store looked at peace. Can't tell, both are possible.
Then he went home to find his wife who had left before going out. Obviously, there was no possibility of surviving, and that was the case. But this is all taken away, as if you are in a hurry to escape from here, as for the dead, you can only die, what else can you do?
Seeing this, I began to be very afraid, afraid that there would be a Hollywood-style ending, just like in "I Am Legend", and finally found a shelter for human beings. If that's the case, that's what this movie is about, and what I've discussed above can also be found in previous horror films, that is, the expression of human nature under fear.
The ending is shocking.
The car ran out of gas, but still could not get out of the fog. A huge monster passed by, and the car and people trembled with their footsteps. At this moment, probably all hope is gone with the monster's footsteps. Where to go? Five people, unfortunately only four bullets. Rather than being eaten by monsters, it is better to have a good time. At least, at least we have tried our best. Four bullets, ended four lives, including the son he once swore to protect. Sticking the gun down his throat and pulling the trigger over and over again, but it was useless, he could only remind himself time and time again to close the innocent and frightened eyes of the child.
The loud footsteps sounded again, and it was time to end it all. Father shouted frantically, but what greeted him was not a monster, but the gradually dissipating mist, and the rescue team slowly approaching. I don't know how desperate he should be at this moment, and how to spend the rest of his life. After all the hardships, this is the result. The picture is about to end. The mother who walked out of the store in desperation at first took her son and sat in the rescue car. With her curse, she slowly passed by her father. In the Divine Comedy of Seraph Seraphim, the picture gradually fades away, leaving only the voice of God.
The cruelty of faith lies in the fact that when you abandon some morality and noble humanity, whether it is out of natural fear or selfishness, you can only be forgiven through crazy worship.
