Spoilers below. The first half of the story is very well laid out and very textured, and the traveler's settings are also a bit interesting. The differences between the husband and wife and the husband's concealment are all good foreshadowings. Camera shooting ghosts is still the classic Wen's setting.
But the last third of the rescue process was a little boring, and the setting of the devil was directly moved out, but it was not very scary, not even as good as the old woman and the family of three who were shot. Maybe they knew that the devil did not exist, so they were not afraid . After all, fighting with the devil is too much drama, and the big boss came out so early, and it failed to whet the appetite of the audience.
I thought that horror films should be kept hidden all the time, making the audience both curious and scared, and finally revealing the mystery. Exposing the truth in advance makes it a lot less interesting—it turns out to be a devil, and it's nothing.
The process of defeating the devil is also not very clear. However, the scene where the devil listens to music and makes machinery is very interesting. The reversal at the end was to be expected, seeing Josh yelling at the old woman, he knew that he was actually still afraid and did not really defeat the old woman. Generally speaking, it is not very scary, but the plot setting is still interesting. It belongs to the category that can be watched but not felt after reading it, not as good as "The Conjuring".
