It's not a coincidence that the picture is similar to reality

There are traces of everything. The company cut down the forest illegally, disturbed the bats, and the bats infected the pigs during the migration process. The chef brought the virus to humans in the process of killing the pigs.

The balance of human beings was broken, and the virus spread to all parts of the world through breathing, communication, and touching. It only took a dozen days for people to go from being confused and not paying attention to panic and losing control.

Many episodes in Infectious Disease are very similar to this winter of 2020. But this is not so much a prophecy as it is to say that this has happened with every plague, from the Spanish flu of 1918 to now the new coronavirus. The virus is changing all the time, but human nature is still vulnerable in the face of this life-and-death test.

In the film, media people made unfounded remarks about the effectiveness of forsythia for curing diseases in order to make money from it. And healthy people died because they were unfortunately infected while queuing up to buy this ineffective medicine.

Then the government secretly closed the city to cut off the pathogen, and people from various industries went on strike and paralyzed the city. Due to the lack of food distributed by the government or the lack of medicines for treatment, people began to smash and loot unscrupulously.

The people questioned the opaqueness of the data released by the government, the unfair distribution of medical care, the inability of the government to control, and the whole society was in a state of self-defense.

And this picture is not the epitome of today.

Some time ago, it was rumored that Shuanghuanglian was effective in the treatment of new coronary pneumonia, and people lined up overnight to go to the pharmacy to buy it. As soon as they heard the news of the closure of the city, many places looted rice, pork, and daily necessities. Medical workers in Hong Kong go on strike. Police have arrested several fake mask manufacturers.

I think all this is not a coincidence, but the most real human nature is often revealed in the face of catastrophe. There are people who regard rumors as a life-saving straw because of panic, people who harm others' interests even at the risk of breaking the law in pursuit of self-protection, and people who want to take advantage of this chaotic opportunity to make a fortune.

But fortunately, there is still warmth in the film. Some medical staff are rushing to get sick for treatment, but after contracting the disease, they still systematically exclude people who come into contact with them, and even at the last moment of their lives are still thinking of dedicating to others. There are also researchers who risk their lives to race against time to develop an antiviral vaccine to treat humans. There are also the protagonist father and daughter, who stay at home quietly in the face of danger, self-isolate, and try not to cause chaos to the outside world.

little girl complains at the end

-We lose spring, we lose summer, we lose another 144 days that don't happen again. Why can't they invent shot that keeps time from passing.

-It gonna start to get normal again.

It is true that we have lost the "144 days" that will never return, but we still have hope, we believe that everything will gradually get better, our life will return to normal, and we will work, study, and love again in the sun . Compared with those patients and medical staff whose lives are forever stuck in this cold winter, what else can we complain about or expect?

Disasters make us understand human nature, examine ourselves, and only hope that we can remain calm and warm at all times.

Contagion quotes

  • Dr. Ellis Cheever: You know where this comes from, shaking hands? It was a way of showing a stranger you weren't carrying a weapon in the old days. You offered your empty right hand to show that you meant no harm.

  • Dr. Ellis Cheever: But right now, our best defense has been social distancing. No hand-shaking, staying home when you're sick washing your hands frequently.
