Fascinating suspense, tight plot, peculiar narrative, themes of punishment and redemption, Will's brilliant performance, these are the few sentences that flashed to my mind after watching "Seven Pounds" The evil of the world for the good of the world has never been my favorite way, but I am still deeply attracted by this film.

The only thing I dissatisfied with this film is the heroine Emilly, who is quite like Sister Feng, haha~

The chaotic feeling of the plot made me want to give up watching it for a while, but a strong curiosity and a premonition that the mystery will eventually be solved, Let me insist on watching this film. Now it seems that thanks to my persistence, I did not miss a good film that shocked my heart.

As soon as TIM came out to scold a kind-hearted blind salesman, frequently appearing in the hospital as a tax officer, discussing plans with friends on the golf course, and about the horrific car accident, many episodes in the film are interspersed, not sequential, the story only has It's coherent when it comes to Emily.
With Emilly's appearance, everything started to shine, and I finally saw TIM's usual lightness: witty ridicule, sincere dedication, teasing the fat boss in the hotel; talking on the phone and telling stories to Emilly, who was suffering from heart disease, silently Came to the hospital bed and waited to accompany her to sleep; secretly repaired her broken 1956 printing press with Emilly on her back...Emilly finally fell in love with TIM, although she knew that her time was running out , the chance of changing hearts is very small.
When the film progressed: TIM was running to the hospital in the rain in pain, I finally had an epiphany. His original intention was to exchange his own life for the new life of seven people. Here he faltered, why? Before he met Emilly, he lived in agony and could not forgive the death of 7 people due to his own mistakes, including his beloved wife, so he wanted to take his own life and selectively examine the benefits of his organs People; when he fell in love with Emilly, he finally found the meaning of continuing to live, should he still give up his life, or should he have another choice? He ran to the hospital and wanted to verify again - and the answer he got was: the chance of finding a heart suitable for Emilly was only 3% or lower; facing Emilly, who loves life, and facing a man with only 6 weeks of life left. She, Will gave up completely. For the sake of Emily's new life, he insisted on executing his original plan, which led to the cruel ending that Will ended his life with his pet jellyfish.

The film is over, I still remember: I was stunned by the credits on the screen, maybe I was shocked by Tim's self-punishment courage, maybe I was stunned by the neurotoxin power of jellyfish, maybe I was stunned by the wonderful Impressed by the filming and performance. But suddenly I started to rethink a question - what is the meaning of human life? Some people say we live for others, some people say we live for ourselves, I think: no matter who we live for, we must give something to others. If the pain of living is too great to be added, then it can basically be pronounced as a walking dead, then it is better to pay something, even if it is self-punishment to die. When TIM gave his seaside villa to the single mother who was abandoned by her boyfriend and was almost killed by him, I was so happy to see her and her child running happily on the beach. With that ability, I will give them another heavenly life like Tim. I finally know why so many people believe in a merciful God. Although no one is a god, anyone can be an angel.

Although I don't like the brutal killing of myself, I respect each life's own choice, and I have more respect for self-salvation like TIM. It may be difficult for him to forgive himself for making such a choice. It is not 100% cruel to himself, because his life will continue on 7 people, which is why he chooses the embrace of heart and eyes at the end of the film~

  • Ben Thomas: The first time I ever saw a box jellyfish, I was twelve. Our father took us to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I never forgot what he said... That it was the most deadly creature on earth. To me it was just the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
