There are several very important little details in the film "Hunting", one of which can be said to run through the entire film.
The protagonist Lucas has a habit of blinking his eyes subconsciously when he lies.
And his habit was naturally hidden from his best friend, Theo.
When Theo's daughter Clara failed to "show love" to Lucas, she fabricated the lie that Lucas had sexually assaulted herself and told the kindergarten principal. After the director went through his own "investigation", soon, the whole town knew about Lucas' "sexual assault" on Clara.
As a result, this kind-hearted and personable man suddenly became the target of the siege of the entire town. The kindergarten principal dismissed him in the name of a holiday, and his former friends criticized him. Lucas didn't want to explain too much to those who didn't know him well, he just wanted to let Clara's father and best friend Theo know that he didn't do anything.
Theo doesn't know whether to trust his daughter or his best friend at first, until he asks Lucas a question
When Theo saw Lucas blink, he took it for granted that Lucas had deceived him, and shed tears in grief.
So far, Lucas has become the public enemy of the whole town. Except for his son and another friend, no one in the whole town wanted to believe him, so they all wanted to kill him and then hurry up. Lucas went to the supermarket to buy something, was refused shopping, and was beaten by the clerks. The son went to his friend for a theory, only to be beaten again. His beloved puppy was killed, and he was buried alone in the pouring rain.
Lucas had a clear conscience. On Christmas Eve, he packed up and went to the prayers held throughout the town. Here, he saw his friends who were once siblings again, and his loss was beyond words. In the process of Theo looking at each other, Theo also seemed to understand something from his cold eyes.
This movie really tells us that gossip is terrible, that malice never comes from a specific individual, but from the whole world.
Finally, let’s end with a line from the movie.
