While watching this film, I was about to explode a few times, but the film still maintained its style and restrained to the end.

The most powerful thing about this film is that after watching it, when we empathize back from the perspective of the male protagonist and look at this incident objectively, we will find that the behavior of the "anti-party" in the film is actually more reasonable. No one would believe that a little girl would say such quality control for no reason, and no one would appease a child molester. This is the mainstream value of society.

The problem is that our experience doesn't always match the facts, and once a bias is created, the number of groups and the advantage of experience can instantly drown out the facts themselves. After all, in many cases, we do not need to doubt.

So the film chose to present to the audience the most terrifying aspect of this deviation—that is, to impose all the negative effects on one person. When we empathize with him because of his innocence, restraint and kindness, it also collapses with the pressure.

The social force and the breakdown of the individual in the face of this force caused by this helpless deviation is the film's best arrangement.

The Hunt quotes

  • [subtitled version]

Lucas: What are you saying? Have you got something to tell me?

    Agnes: Stop it, Lucas.

Lucas: You want to tell me something?

    Theo: Relax, Lucas.

Lucas: The whole town is listening. Tell me! What do you want to say?

Agnes: Stop it, you fucking psychopath!

Lucas: I want a word with Theo. Look into my eyes. Look me in the eyes. What do you see? Do you see anything? Nothing. There's nothing. There's nothing. You leave me alone now. You leave me alone now, Theo. Then I'll go. Thank you.
