"Standing on the moral high ground, aren't you cold?"

The Hunt is a Danish film directed by Thomas Winterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Bo Larsen, released in 2013 (Denmark). The film tells the story of Lucas, a kindergarten teacher, who was almost ruined by a lie from the girl Claire.

The main thing that shocked me after watching the movie was that if I were in a small town, I'm afraid I would be the perpetrator too .

Are children pure and flawless?

On the question of whether children lie, the answer is undoubtedly yes. The question of whether human beings are inherently good or inherently evil will not be listed for the time being. It must be human nature to seek advantages and avoid disadvantages. When children have ideas and can move freely, these profit-seeking behaviors will definitely appear. Claire grew up in a family that lacked love. When he found out that Lucas, a kindergarten teacher, cared more about her, he acted too intimately. Lucas stopped her, but Claire had some hatred for it. So when Claire lied to the principal for the first time, it led to sexual assault. The psychiatrist hired by the principal seemed to want to take this as her own performance. Claire didn't want to say more, but because she wanted to go out to play quickly, she acquiesced to the doctor's additions. This was the second time she lied. Rather than saying that human nature is inherently evil, it is better to say that when I was a child, I didn’t know what is good and evil, and I didn’t know the consequences of doing evil. It needed guidance from the external environment. Everyone has experienced childhood, and I am afraid that they would not dare to say that they are completely pure. Children’s lives are somewhat similar to adults. They compete for the right to speak and be the king of children.

labelling

Judging by human nature doesn't need to be too complicated. When Claire's labels like "kindergarten teacher", "divorced", and "middle-aged man" are added to catch the wind, and the rumors spread to your ears, what do you think? The rumors in the film were even added to the details that Lucas's house had a basement where he committed crimes and sexually abused multiple children. Police investigation found that there was no basement. In fact, the tragedy of Lucas has been doomed since Claire lied for the second time. Does sexual assault and whether there is a basement matter in the hearts of those who fan the flames? I'm afraid it doesn't matter, because the "facts" have been restored in his heart. When Claire admitted that she was talking nonsense, did Seale, the father, listen? When the court acquitted Lucas, did he get less discrimination? Everyone looked at him with strange eyes. The supermarket employees beat and scolded him. When he was cast aside by everyone, there was only one dog, Fanny, but Fanny was also killed. I think that even after a year or ten years, everyone can treat Lucas with kindness, the label of "sexual abuse of children" will still appear in your mind from time to time, making you inadvertently treat him differently.

In the church, Lucas looked back at Claire's father, his former friend Seale

deer and hunter

The end of the film is where the main theme is profoundly revealed. Lucas came to the forest to hunt deer. After seeing the deer, he did not shoot but was suddenly grazed by another bullet. The shooter was standing in the direction of the sun, and Lucas could not see clearly. . The name of the film is "Hunting", because the tradition in the town is that you can have your own shotgun when you are an adult. We are always influenced by the group, proud of being on the moral high ground, and advocating for the justice that we represent, let us More people believe what they believe and shoot at will with their own shotguns. Fortunately, Lucas still had his son and godfather who believed in his character and chose to believe in him when he was the most difficult. Each of us is both a hunter and a deer. I hope that everyone will be careful when shooting, and I hope that when unfortunately become a deer, someone chooses to believe in you.

the person(s) standing in the sun and shooting

Did you see who fired the shot? I can't see him, he's on the commanding heights, he's in the sun.
