Please stop making movies like this

Like "A Quiet Place", "Blindfolded" also relies on the senses to create a sense of horror, but it is obviously not as good as the former.

The film "Blindfolded Your Eyes" mainly talks about an unknown force (creature?) on the earth, and people who see it with their eyes will go crazy, then commit suicide, or attack others.

In order to avoid being infected, everyone can only hide indoors or live with blindfolds.

With such a plot setting, it is hard not to be reminiscent of "A Quiet Place". Before, it was through hearing to create a sense of horror, this time through vision.

However, "Blindfolded" does not explain a complete world view to the audience like "A Quiet Place". At the end of the film, there is no reasonable explanation for this creature that can bring disaster. So after watching the whole movie, you will still be confused, like watching a "Godzilla" without Godzilla.

In an interview, the director once said: "Before the monster reveals its real body, its looming figure will make everyone more exciting." And her goal is to create a movie where you don't see the "monster" from beginning to end, and where the suspense runs through the entire film.

Clearly, this approach has failed miserably.

And the climax of this movie, I feel that it is all used in the social unrest at the beginning, and then there is the lengthy plot, and the two-hour viewing time is very tormenting.

In fact, the film is based on Josh Malerman's novel "Bird Box" of the same name. When the novel was published, many felt that it was a parody of M. Knight Shyamalan's "Doomsday" and McCarthy's "Doomsday." However, Josh Malerman said in an interview that he had conceived it long before them.

But it cannot be denied that "Blindfolded" borrows too many elements from other previous films, some of which even directly copied Stephen King's "The Mist".

From this point of view, "Blindfolded Your Eyes" is completely unnecessary to exist, and it also leaves a big hole for "what the hell is a monster" for the audience to fill.

So, what exactly are the monsters in the movie?

The only images known so far are Gary's sketches on paper, which appear to be transparent savage creatures.

But when you think about it, this monster is also very tasteless. Its greatest ability is to confuse people's thinking and make people suicidal, but only if they see it.

Like Gary, a "unique group" that does not commit suicide after seeing it, it can only influence its thinking, and then direct him to force others to open their eyes or directly carry out harm.

As for other abilities, it probably doesn't exist. Although this creature can affect gravity, it cannot break through the door, and its physical destruction ability is obviously limited. That's why it uses those "Garys" for its own service.

However, one thing is certain, the iris of the person who sees it will have a strange distortion. As for what most people see, it's not the same as what Gary drew... well, not so sure.

From what Tom and Olympia can see, this sad and suicidal feeling can also be suppressed, but the time is very limited.

As for what the monster looks like, Sandra Bullock said in an interview:

It sounds absurd, "a green man with an ugly baby face", is it a special effects master who assists in the shooting in front of the green screen?

Anyway, the author has made it clear that he will not write the second part of "Bird Box". I don't know if the film team has any intentions, and I hope not to do it again.

  • Malorie: Listen to me, we're going on a trip now, it's going to be rough. If you hear something in the woods, you tell me. if you hear something in the water, you tell me. But under no circumstances are you allowed to take off your blindfold.

  • Malorie: Please don't take my children!
