King of War

The film is basically based on actual events, and the male protagonist is the incarnation of five arms dealers. The film is not operated by any American company behind the scenes, and the source of funds is deliberately excluded from the United States. The film has received considerable assistance from arms smugglers. More than 3,000 real AK47 guns are used in the film. The first reason is that prop guns are more expensive than real guns, and the second reason is that they have the help of smugglers, and their efficiency is better than that of the production company.

To make the film, Nicolas Cage formed his own film company, which is why Andrew Nicol eventually came together with him. Another leading actor in the film is Ethan Hawke, who is well-known in Hollywood as an international police detective, loyal to his duty, and the beautiful Bridget Moynahan. He played Cage's wife.

I have always liked movies based on real events, and they were about the arms trade, which is usually difficult to access, so I liked this movie very much. Although some of the plot connections are not very smooth, I prefer to see it as a documentary with a plot. Also, that second pistol joke is really strong~~

One of Nicholas Cage's classic movies, an inspirational story about a small gangster going to a world-class arms dealer, which implicitly exposes the dark and human entanglements of weapon economics and politics between major powers. I have seen a movie that I will not regret.

Lord of War quotes

  • Yuri Orlov: I miss your Borscht, mom and dad say you're clean

Vitaly Orlov: Yeah that's right, you've gone legit? That's hard to believe

Yuri Orlov: Because it's not true I'm leaving tonight on a job

Vitaly Orlov: I can't, I have a girlfriend and I think she might be the one plus I'm thinking of opening my own place

Yuri Orlov: Maybe this will trip will help, its good money

Vitaly Orlov: I've given my word

Yuri Orlov: Nobody has to know, we'll tell everyone we're going for a little R and R

Vitaly Orlov: What do you need me for all of a sudden?

Yuri Orlov: Everything's fucked up more than usual. I can't trust anybody, I need you to watch my back

  • Yuri Orlov: [Narrating] I was so caught up in the deal, I never realized what was going on in Vitaly's head. Come to think about it, maybe I never really understood what was going on inside his head. One thing I do understand for certain is that Vitaly broke the cardinal rule of gun running: never pick up a gun and join the customers. Only half the guns and ammunition was gone so I was still entitled to half the diamonds ,if I took them I was lost, if I left them I was still lost. The massacre played out exactly how Vitaly predicted but then half a dozen massacres happened Sierra Leone that week you can't stop them all, in my experience you can't stop any of them
