“I Walk by Faith, not by Sight.”
The overall use of color in the film is heavy, indicating that the world is in the end of the world, and the sky scenery has repeatedly become the clip and background in the film.
The protagonist, Eli, carries a backpack alone and carries the only self-defense weapon: a broadsword, walking on a road full of devastation and ruins. In such an apocalypse, nothing is more important than clean water. In exchange for drinkable water, Eli bartered all the way, and he was not aimlessly looking for a safe place and a place to live. Every stop he made along the way It is all for the next day to continue to go west, and every night's rest is not only a physical need, but also a deep spiritual need. That is to open the most important thing in the backpack and a thick book, and read it.
Eli used his life to protect the book all the way because of a voice he heard after surviving the apocalypse, and it was this voice that told Eli to take the book to the west, and the path ahead of him would be guided and must be protected by it.
We can only see a few dangers and temptations that Eli has endured along the way through the movie, but we can hardly imagine all the other encounters he has endured on this long journey.
This can't help but remind me that each of us is actually like Eli in the journey of life. We live in this world. Everyday life, work, and study are like a small step in a long journey, but few people know their own What is the purpose of life? That is to say, the life we repeat every day, what is all this life for? Is it just for making money? Or enjoy material things? Or some people feel that their career is to contribute to the world, society and even humanity. But even if everything has a purpose that is near and far, in the end, when life comes to an end, when everyone faces death, in this person's life, not to mention what we can take away and leave behind What are the ones that can really bring more meaning to the living people?
When Eli described the pre-apocalyptic world, two words stood out to me:
" People have more than they need ", naturally you and I often like the new and dislike the old and over-consume; " People don't know what is precious ", and of course they don't know how to cherish.
The lack of the soul is often more terrible than the lack of material, as another character in this story: the land snake Carnegie. He has all the resources: clean water, labor, women, food, and an expanding community. But there was only one thing he had been looking for for a long time but couldn't find it, and this thing happened to be in Eli's bag -- that thick book.
