The secret life of Walter Mitty
watch this movie The opportunity was due to a Weibo post by Ashin, which was accompanied by a wallet with the following sentence:
"To see the world, Things dangerous to come to,
To se behind walls, To draw closer,
To find each other and to feel.
That is the purpose of life.”
(Seeing the world, being there;
getting close to each other and feeling life.
This is the purpose of life.)
The moment I saw this Weibo, I just put it As a chicken soup for the soul or something like this~
Later, I saw many well-informed five fans turn this article, and pointed out that the source of this wallet is a movie called "Daydreamer". They were very enthusiastic and also posted the viewing address of this film. I just marked it and thought that it was a recommended movie that Ashin had watched. It should be very good. I can watch it when I have nothing to do. .
It took me a long time to watch this movie, because just hearing the name and watching the movie poster makes me feel like a movie like "Happiness Knocks on the Door", which is very inspirational~
After watching it today, I feel really very Inspirational, I checked, the screenwriter of this film is really Steve Conrad, the screenwriter of "Happiness Knocks on the Door"!
The overall feeling of this movie is really just like what its director (and the male protagonist of this film) described, it is fun yet serious, realistic yet like a fairy tale.
This movie is the type of movie I like to watch in the cinema. I can't give a clear definition to it. It is a movie that I haven't seen before but I feel deeply. (Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be released in China~))
Actually, I prefer its original English title to its Chinese title, and it feels more in line with the style of this movie. This Chinese translation always feels too much. Chicken Soup~ (Personal opinion only)
The protagonist of the film, Walter, had to bear the burden of the family due to the early death of his father. He dropped out of high school to work in a pizza restaurant. He gave up pursuing his dreams in reality, but realized his dreams in daydreams, and eventually grew into a magazine development manager who loves to daydream. His favorite thing to do is to fantasize about being a hero and go through all kinds of adventures everywhere. It wasn't until one day that an adventure photographer's negative for a magazine cover disappeared, he decided to go to find it in person, and began his wonderful adventure.
I don't know why, but after watching the movie, I always think of the lyrics of "The Salted Fish" "I don't want to be in the sun all my life, and salted fish also have dreams. I don't have any talent, but I have the innocence of dreams... If I had Dreams, dreams must be crazy enough to become a hero, there will always be a legend of mine..." Anyway, the lyrics of the whole song are super fit for the plot of this movie!
Then, I thought of what Ashin said before. I don’t remember the original text. Anyway, it probably means: I used to naively thought that every dream I had when I was a child would come true. It was not until I grew up that I realized that life is like Just like a hot air balloon, if you want to fly higher and higher, you have to throw away the sandbags one by one. Slowly, in the end, all your dreams are lost, and I have become the me I don’t know the most.
Accidentally said that I went to my idol's side again, who called me five fans! Closer to home, let me tell you what I think about the movie itself!
The key thing in the whole film is the wallet and the magazine's motto printed on it, which is also the concept that the whole film wants to convey to the audience: seeing the world, being there; getting close to each other and feeling life. That's what life is for.
This film is really interesting, with a little bit of suspense. I personally like a few scenes very much. One is a fantasy where the heroine is in a Greenland bar, singing Major Tom with a guitar, and encouraging the hero to take risks without turning back. There is also a shot of the male protagonist sliding on the road with the skateboard in Iceland (so handsome~) The last shot is what he said to the photographer who was waiting for the snow leopard in the Himalayas. They finally saw the snow leopard haunting the ridge, and the male protagonist asked the photographer why he didn't take a picture?
The photographer said: "Sometimes I don't .If I like a moment, I don't like to have the distraction of the camera. Just want to stay in it.. Right there ,right here. Sometimes I don't shoot, If I like a moment...I don't like the camera distracting me, I just want to be in the moment, enjoy the moment, enjoy the present."
(Reminds me that both Ashin and Martha said before that they want us to enjoy singing The meeting is now, don’t be busy taking pictures and videos and miss the touch that belongs to the scene.) I really like this take the most in the whole film, this part is really meaningful!
Last but not least, the OST of this movie really couldn't be better! Every song is very good, I rarely read all the subtitles at the end in order to listen to the ending song.
