It's just that it's been a long time. It took 17 years for me to remember to watch this movie. Today, the still young Tom and Brad Pitt in the movie are no longer what they used to be. Cruise's face was clearly showing signs of aging, and his body wasn't as sexy as it used to be. And Pitt married the most charming Julie in the world after divorcing Jennifer, and has left many classics on the big screen over the years. These two people made my eyes reluctant to leave the computer screen for 123 minutes, for fear that I would miss some wonderful pictures.
Vampires have always been a popular theme in Western movies, and the various entanglements about people and vampires are also reflected in different movies. My real exposure to vampire-themed movies started with Twilight. In fact, it is not entirely correct to say that Twilight is a vampire movie. After all, this movie is more like a youth movie, and more accurately, it is more to highlight the rough relationship history of Edward and Bella. And what really made me crave vampires was the hot "The Vampire Diaries" in 2009, and it was this TV series that made me really understand every bit of vampires. Including how vampires come into being, what vampires are afraid of, and what vampires can do and cannot do. Of course, a large part of the reason for chasing this TV series is also because there are a lot of beautiful and handsome guys and all kinds of emotional entanglements that make people unable to stop and heartbroken. Compared with "Twilight", "The Vampire Diaries" is better in terms of plot and plot fullness. However, "Interview with the Vampire" is different from the current vampire dramas similar to youth idol dramas. It avoids the traditional involvement of vampires and humans, and tells the various feelings between vampires.
In the movie, Louis, played by Pitt, lost his confidence in life because of the death of his wife and children, and seeking death became his life goal. By chance, he met the proud, selfish and evil vampire Lestat played by Tom Cruise. Perhaps because of loneliness, perhaps because of the amazingly beautiful face of Louis, Lestat decided to turn Louis into a vampire. But before that, Lestat gave Louis a choice: either live in pain, or die forever. Louis chose the latter, and it was because of this choice that he fell into even more pain. Although no matter what, no matter what Louis chooses, he will still suffer. Whether it's to continue to indulge in the loss of a wife and a child in reality, or to become a bloodthirsty vampire, it's endless pain. He himself is too sentimental, and after becoming a vampire, human feelings have not diminished at all. So, when Lestat gave him how to drink blood and kill people, Louis' part of human kindness kept him from refusing to do such a thing. But the vampire's own thirst for blood made him miserable. Therefore, he kept going to kill rats and pigeons, and tried to drink the blood of animals to reduce the desire to kill. But what's the use of that. Lestat is right, in the eyes of vampires, food is non-species. Whether it is killing a mouse or killing a mouse, it is killing, and it is essentially the same. Good and evil are only relative. To humans, vampires are evil. However, for the same purpose of survival, vampire blood-sucking and killing is just an instinctive behavior.
Maybe Louis is not suitable to be a vampire, he is so kind that he has to blame himself for a long time every time he kills. Lestat is bent on turning Louis into a cold-blooded killer just like him. I think, Lestat is also lonely and broken, and he has never had a person to accompany him for a long time. It's hard to meet someone who can make your heart move, but you don't want to go all the way with him - think about how frustrating it is.
All because of loneliness.
A plague, a little girl Claudia who lost her mother, Louis couldn't help but kill once again changed his own destiny. Lestat turns Claudia into a vampire, feeds her as his and Louis' daughter, and tells her how to kill. Although Lestat gave Claudia a chance to choose before, how could Claudia understand what it means to be a vampire at this time. The three formed a strange family, and they got along very happily at first. But when Claudia finds out that she will never grow up, she begins to resent why Lestat turned her into a vampire. In the end, she used her own cleverness to kill Lestat and escaped from Lestat's life with Louis.
After the two left Lestat, they cherished each other. In the process, Claudia turns her affectionate love for Louis into love. Every time I heard her say "My Louis" in Louis's ear, I couldn't hide the deep nostalgia for Louis in her eyes. And at the end of the story, another Armand who loved Louis came out. Louis's sentimental temperament deeply attracted Armand. In order to get Louis, he even sacrificed all his men in exchange for Louis to stay with him forever. The last dialogue between the two big men was quite affectionate, and I couldn't help but be moved. However, Louis, who lost Claudia, once again experienced no love. Therefore, he still has to leave Armand to live alone.
I think Louis has feelings for Claudia too. Although, the movie didn't explain it very clearly. But from his love for Claudia and the pain of losing Claudia, it can be seen that this little girl who made him fall into the abyss of sin again has become his biggest concern.
There is no common male and female love in the movie, it looks more like the love between men. Lestat's admiration for Louis, Armand's admiration for Louis, but this kind of relationship doesn't seem awkward at all, and it doesn't affect the intensity of the relationship at all. On the contrary, this kind of relationship becomes under the interpretation of the three handsome men. More affectionate paragraphs up. Especially when the weakened Lestat said "she never should have been one of us" at the end, I finally understood that Lestat never hated Louis. Although he had killed him more than once, his love for him from the bottom of his heart still did not allow him to resent this beautiful man.
"Interview with the Vampire" looks weird and particularly attractive. The first half without Claudia is the most attractive to me. It's very eye-catching to watch two sports male vampires quarrel. In the end, the plot after Armand appeared was a bit bloody and gloomy, and my whole heart was shaking when I saw it.
This movie really taught me the magic of Tom Cruise. To be honest, I never thought how handsome Tom Cruise was until I watched Interview with the Vampire. But when the young Cruise turned into a vampire, there was an irresistible charm in the pale, angular face. Slim figure, slender fingers, dressed in 18th century ornate court costumes, like a prince. Actually, how much I like him playing Lestat. Although it looks so cruel, the indifference that is so bad to the bones is really fascinating. In comparison, I personally think Pitt's appearance is not as good as Cruise's. Although, Pitt's face is as handsome as it is irresistible. But that face was just too broad, perhaps not really suitable for playing a sentimental vampire. It's like I always thought Edward in Twilight was really, ugly. And with a naturally thin face like Johnny Deep's, not being a vampire would be the greatest waste.
