From the beginning of the story, I didn't like Louis very much. This is not an opinion made out of thin air. I say this because he cannot face death calmly. Louis, a wealthy manor owner, wanted to kill himself after accidentally losing his wife and children. The vampire Lestat (hereafter Tate), who was observed in secret, merely complied with his plea and gave him a shove. And indeed, Tate did not force Louie to become a vampire, he gave Louie a choice that Tate never had.
But after Louis became a vampire, he resented Lestat. Maybe he is human, maybe he can't bear to kill, but this is his own choice. Therefore, he cannot evaluate or slander Tate from the moral high ground. It can even be said that Tate can completely throw away the oil bottle of Louis. But he didn't, he fell in love with Louie. It is no exaggeration to see that it can be used on Tate for 10,000 years. So he indulged Louis again and again.
The biggest mistake Tate made was not killing the little girl Claudia (hereafter Chloe). Tate made the decision to keep Louis. But he wasn't all cold-blooded. After becoming a vampire, Chloe was smart and well-behaved. He cared and nurtured like a baby. Who would have thought that Chloe would end up taking a bite back, nearly killing Tate.
Tate never told his own story, he was always happy to be himself, a vampire. Even after being betrayed by Louis and Chloe, he tenaciously survived. That's what I admire about Lestat, he didn't choose to be a vampire, but he's done this, he understands the truth of living well, and he's living a wonderful life. In contrast, after choosing to become a vampire, Louis, who was unable to face his identity, looked dull.
But Crow didn't hurt Louis. The person who lost her life was far more important than the person who brought her back to life. However, it can be understood that Crow's feelings for Louis are love, the same as Tate's. It is introduced in the movie that vampires have their own unique skills, and I suspect that Louis' unique skills are the attraction of soul capture. Otherwise, why would they fall in love with him one after another, or why would he always have the help of nobles and live in peace for a long time.
Amon, a fellow vampire whom Louis later met, found that Louis had a spirit that attracted him very much. So he tried his best to teach Louis, to gain Louis' trust and become Louis's partner. But Louis still stood at the height of God and despised Amon. He said that Amon was not worthy of being his companion, and that Amon had already died. I believe that when he speaks of death here, he means death of the heart.
I thought Tate was literally burned to death, but he miraculously lived. Although he was so hungry that he didn't look like a human being, he still didn't look humble. He was still the bright body who talked about life and not surviving. There was an old cemetery beside him, but Tate seemed to be exuding light and heat. When Louis approached him, he said weakly: You are finally here.
Tate was waiting for him, one last time. After this side, Tate has nothing to worry about.
At the end of the film, the reporter was bitten by Tate, and Tate let the reporter choose just as the film let Louis choose. Everything is like an eternal disc, spinning and never stopping.
Attachment: "Interview with the Vampire" is adapted from the first "Interview with the Vampire" in Anne Rice's novel "The Vampire Chronicles". I heard that in the book, Tate and Louis will get along more harmoniously. (That is, it is more gay in gay), if you are interested, you can read the original book.
Your attention is my biggest motivation!
