where is the truth

Originally I wanted to see Polanski's and then Charles Laughton's Night of the Hunter, but the film was so perfect that I decided to write something, not in the habit of writing reviews. When night falls, sin begins to happen. Perhaps the conspiracy in the film is just the tip of the iceberg of some history, and such an ending may often be staged in reality: the imprisoned truth will never end, and the noble ideal will eventually be shattered. Private investigator Gittes is used to get involved in a murder case, and he wants to use his own efforts to find the truth. When he finally discovered the truth, the woman he loved died because of it, another innocent girl fell into the clutches, and he never had the chance to tell the truth. What really shocked me was the bleak ending of the film. Unlike the happy ending of "Mr. Smith to Washington," or the hopeless ending of "Kennedy," I think this film is undoubtedly the closest to reality, and it's one that's hard for me to let go of.

Gittes is a past person. He used to feel powerless at the Chinatown Police Station, and ended up losing his girlfriend and leaving Los Angeles to start a private detective. At this time, in the face of Klee who cheated on his wife, he said: when you are right, you are right, and in the face of the fake Evelyn, he said: then go home and forget everything. Obviously this is only because he has paid the corresponding price for knowing the truth, in fact from his conversation with the banker at the barber shop, it can be seen that he still has a good conscience, so he chose to find the truth again, but immediately ate it. Suffering: The man he investigated was murdered and dumped in a reservoir, and he himself had his nose cut off with a knife. If he continues to investigate, it seems that he will lose his life at any time. But Evelyn's appearance not only saved his life twice, but turned his investigation into a mission: the protection of women and revenge for the nightmare of Chinatown. Apparently he didn't have the luck of Bogart in The Falcon of Malta. After he came into contact with the beggars' causes of death, the obituary registration, the old lady in the nursing home who repaired the tuna club's flag, and the list of land buyers, Ada Sessions, posing as Aveline, tried to tell it all, but he was not able to catch up with him. He was silenced before that, and no one could give him any clues at this time, including Aveline, who didn't know the cause of her husband's death. The audience may also agree that the murderer is Evelyn. After listening to Noah's remarks about the jealous Evelyn, the evil and charming Nicholson suddenly became violent and slapped the audience in the mouth, and then in Evelyn's speech. With help, I found the owner of the glasses, the initiator of all things. At this time, another character in the play, Claude Mulvihill, reappears, and Gittes has to pay for his first humiliation of Claude. The two sides fought for several rounds, which ended with Gittes having his nose cut off, Claude's head being broken, and Gittes being pointed at the head with a gun by Claude. When they rush to Chinatown, the fate is repeated: Klee fails to take Aveline (possibly because of cheating by his abusive wife), Katherine is taken away by Noah, Aveline is killed by the police as a murderer, Gittes' revenge ends in failure. Noah can rape his daughter and granddaughter, poison the aborigines of the land, publish the obituary of the elderly in the nursing home in the newspaper, kill the water conservancy director who discovers the truth, and bribe the deputy director, and he can use Ida Sai after the end. After Shen Si kills her, the police can have "self-knowledge", and they can control the future of Los Angeles. Gittes only gets the unspeakable truth and dirty reality: forget it, jake, it's chinatown. In fact, I didn't intend to explain the plot, but the screenwriter is so perfect that there is not a single scrap of writing. The theme of this film is undoubtedly deeper than the climax of the plot. I don't know if "Assassination of Kennedy" and "The Furnace" are from here. The film points directly to the darkest facts. This is a blind spot in history, a taboo of language, and a tomb of truth. There is no fairness and justice in the world, there are only countless conspiracies and crimes. In Los Angeles, in Chinatown, night falls and sin rises. What about in China? It can only be said that there is more than that. In countless China towns, it seems that sins can run rampant in this land without the cover of night. Noah's words are still outdated today, most people never have to face the fact, that at the right time and the right place, they're capable of anything. Most of the people on this land will never explore the truth and recognize the reality that fairness and justice do not exist. Instead, they will regard lies as truth and tricks as beliefs, and go straight to the seemingly hopeful "future". I only wish there were more works like this, maybe one day, some truths will finally appear. I would like to pay tribute to Dr. Li Wenliang with this article. they're capable of anything.
