"Top Gun" is an air force-themed film and television masterpiece shot in the 1980s to promote the military. It tells the story of the protagonist Mitchell from an air force elite to an ace. Facing the unexpected death of his friend Gus, this proud and confident protagonist begins to put down his ego and finally completes the task perfectly.
The film was born in 1986, although 34 years have passed since now, the effect of its filming is difficult to measure. Visually, the shots of the fighter jets from various flight angles and the roar of the aircraft engines are all just right. Moreover, all kinds of flights and crashes are presented to the audience in a simple and realistic manner, without too flashing and gorgeous lighting effects. With a visually comfortable feast, it is better than other similar military-themed films.
For the storyline, the protagonist's friend Gus died unexpectedly during a training session, which dealt a huge blow to him. For the accident, Mitchell felt guilty and condemned, especially when the rescuers opened Gus's body in the sea, Mitchell's serious grief, and his unwillingness to let go. The camera captured Mitchell's expression delicately, with deep sadness, and the performance was penetrating.
