Hugo - 8/10

The 3D special effects of this film are great, giving people a dreamlike illusion. I really like the art direction of this film. The two young actors are quite satisfactory, mainly watching Ben Kingsley. Jiang is still getting hotter as he gets older. His perfect performance pays homage to Georges Méliès (the two are also very similar). I personally think it's a movie about Georges Méliès, the character of Hugo doesn't feel that prominent, and I don't know why. Although the rhythm of this film is a little slow, this is also Martin Scorsese's consistent style. The old man's films in the past two years have a lot of novel content. He doesn't play gangsters and plays literature and art. The results are just as wonderful and talented!

Someone commented shortly that: Qu Gao must be a widow. Judging from the current ratings, four stars and five stars account for the vast majority. They are not married, and it can be seen that the music is not high; the old Scorsese pays tribute to the elder Merière. Feeling does not mean that it is a good work. You movie Is the filming so clichéd and pretentious, is it worthy of Meili Ai? !

It is a love letter to the movie, but it is also a love letter to the fans. The noisy and eating brats around here probably won't understand why the uncle around him is crying.

Hugo quotes

  • Hugo Cabret: [Angry and disappointed that the automaton hasn't written anything of sense] What an idiot! Thinking I could fix it!

    Isabelle: Hugo...

[Hugo looses his composure and begins smashing various items in the room]

Hugo Cabret: It's broken! It's always been broken!

[Sits in chair, covers his face and begins to cry]

Isabelle: Hugo, it doesn't have to be like this. You can fix it.

Hugo Cabret: [crying] You don't... you don't understand. I thought... I thought if I could fix it... then I wouldn't be so alone.

[Hugo's sobs fill the room. Suddenly, the machine begins to draw again]

Isabelle: Hugo, Hugo look! It... it's not done!

[they watch as the automaton begins to draw a picture]

Hugo Cabret: [voice breaking] It's not writing! It... it's drawing!

[they see it is a scene from the movie "A Trip to the Moon."]

Hugo Cabret: That's the movie my Father saw!

    [the automaton signs Georges Méliès'name]

Isabelle: [amazed] Georges Méliès. That's Papa Georges name. Why would your Father's machine sign Papa Georges' name?

    Hugo Cabret: I don't know.

[picks up drawing and looks at robot]

    Hugo Cabret: Thank you.

    [turns to Isabelle]

Hugo Cabret: It was a message from my Father. And now I have to figure it out.

  • Georges Méliès: I know you're there.

    [turns around]

Georges Méliès: What's your name, boy'?

    Hugo Cabret: Hugo. Hugo Cabret.

Georges Méliès: Stay away from me, Hugo Cabret.
