Growth, ideals, choice-"The Law of Cider House"

The movie lay quietly on the hard drive early, but it opened yesterday, just like an inexplicable memory, suddenly rushing to my heart.
Homer came to the St. Cloud Orphanage like a gift from God to Dr. Ludge, where he grew up quietly and became the emperor of Maine and the king of New England, just like every child here.
The troubles of love always bother those young people who don't want to take responsibility for themselves and their partners. It is as frightening as the emptiness after our passion. The beards on our lips cannot always be the proof of our youth. Maybe this is growth.
Abortion is the dividing line between Homer and Dr. Ludge when he was in the orphanage. Homer can do anything for Dr. Ludge, except for abortion. This may be because abortion always reminds Homer of his biological parents. They gave him life, and it was they who made Homer an orphan from birth, an orphan with his parents alive. All the children in St. Cloud’s Orphanage had the same experience as Homer, so they were full of anticipation and anger towards the family from the bottom of their hearts. Homer may think that abortion is a kind of separation, and the person who loves him the most, heaven and earth, from now on. The weak Homer has the most authentic knowledge of the world, which is also a kind of separation.
Because the arrival of Wally and Gandy prompted Homer to finally leave. When we were young, didn't we also have the dream of reaching the horizon with the sword, and the freedom to soar in happiness. Leaving for something is just an excuse, young is the real reason.
Homer has a girl in St. Cloud’s orphanage who has a crush on him, Dr. Ludge and two nurses who regard himself as his own flesh and blood, and a child who shed tears secretly because of Homer’s departure.
Homer got love in the Apple House, although he was short-lived and brought pain to both parties. Love always meets unexpectedly when you are not paying attention. When that moment comes, we can only revel in it. Gandy brought Homer the most beautiful time of his life. Homer, who is intoxicated in happiness, has a prophetic calmness.
Give Ruth an abortion and let Ruth's father be redeemed before death.
Homer is the owner of the cider house. Homer has his own cider house rules. Even if there is no return of Wally, Homer will choose to leave. Because Homer knew that after Dr. Ludge left, the St. Cloud Orphanage needed itself more, and only there was its home, Homer finally explained the responsibility well.
At the end of the film, when Homer said "Good night, you will be the emperor of Maine and the king of New England", the friends laughed happily. All we can do is move.
Maybe one day, we will be like orphans, looking for a home everywhere.

In the movies of the last century, the cast is indeed strong today. It does not have a strong and compact plot, but it depicts everyone's growth and choice and deep emotions. rules are not for us. we are supposed to make our own rules. goodnight, you princes of maine, you kings of new england.PS: Tobey Maguire was really tender back then...

  • Candy Kendall: I know what's going on Rose. Homer told me. You don't know this, but I got pregnant about a year ago. Do you want to have this baby? No? Who's the father? Does he know? If you don't want to have this baby, Homer and I will take you to a place. It's safe. He knows this doc...

Rose Rose: I can't go nowhere.

Candy Kendall: Why? Rose, listen to me. You can tell me. It's ok.

    [Rose starts crying]

    Arthur Rose: Morning.

    Candy Kendall: Morning, Mr. Rose.

Arthur Rose: I'm gonna be up top, ok?

[Rose gestures to Arthur as the father of her baby]

  • Homer Wells: You're having sex with your own daughter.

Arthur Rose: Ain't nobody havin' sex with my daughter! Let me just tell you that!

Homer Wells: You're lying. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? What do you care who hears? I mean, come on. They know already, don't they? They know Mr. Rose.

Arthur Rose: And you know what your business is, boy! I know you don't wanna be in no kind of business with me! That's what I know.

Homer Wells: Yeah? Go on. Cut my clothes. I've got other clothes.

Arthur Rose: You gonna come here talkin' to me about lies and shame? Those people took you in, and that boy Wally is away at war!

Homer Wells: Yeah, well she's your daughter!

Arthur Rose: And I love her! Ain't never gonna do nothin' to harm her.

Homer Wells: She's pregnant, you know that? She's pregnant.
