Feeling the North by Northwest

Looking at the classic clips of North by Northwest, I really have to admire Hitchcock's means of creating suspense. Whether it is the editing technique or the soundtrack, it highlights the tense atmosphere in the film. Especially in the part of the plane attack in the wasteland, the use of lens montages made the audience feel pressure and fear. The feeling that people want to stop. The film is about an advertising executive who is involved in the struggle of political espionage, is constantly hunted down, and finally is willing to risk his life in order to save his lover who is a spy. The background of the story should be that during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, there were spies lurking in both countries, but they used women to negotiate in the middle, alluding to the involvement of many innocent people during the Cold War, just like the end of their lives at the American presidential stone statue. No matter what kind of war is always at the expense of sacrifice, there may also be a symbol of freedom and democracy in the United States will eventually win. Although the ending is full of suspenseful colors, it feels a little verbose, that is, the tension of the audience has been adjusted for too long, and it has weakened the dramatic effect that it should have. Although I can see the director's intentions, I think it's good to stop at some points, and it's hard to change the audience's emotions. Overall, it's a good work worth learning and watching!
