Every time I watch an American youth film, I feel that the cultural difference is really big. No matter whether there is a beautifying effect of the film, China cannot make such a film, because there is no openness, no dance culture, and no concert culture.
But the father in this movie has the same conservative attitudes and desire to control his daughter as China. It's just that in America, such fathers exist as strange people, and in China such parents are the norm.
As a conservative person, every time I watch a youth film, I am frightened by the openness of the men and women in it. What date or what dance party is something that is really unthinkable in China. The most common thing in China is a secret crush. Few people dare to directly express their thoughts like that.
Especially the two times in the film and the female lead singer at the end of the film sing on stage wearing a short skirt, that feeling is really amazing, women can live like that. I remember that Tan Weiwei wore a short skirt and no shoes and sang a similar song at Hunan Satellite TV's New Year's Eve concert. I was shocked at the time, and I still felt that it was difficult to accept.
Girls who have never been in love tend to imagine boys as good-looking, and only after they really start will they find out that they are all people, and those boys will be superficial, so Bianca, who is looking forward to it, wants to leave in the middle of the party. This understanding of human nature makes this drama a little real under the exaggerated appearance.
What I like most is that one of them is on the stairs, and the flyers of the dance are spilled from the upstairs. That scene is really good.
The part of Heath Ledger singing on the playground really makes people fully feel his charm. I have never felt his charm before, and this movie really shows it very well.
The three singings that appeared in the movie are also very moving, and the last rooftop singing, the big vision rotates.
However, there are still many flaws in the film, such as some incomprehensible logic. Why did the female lead suddenly enter to help the male lead to skip class, even to the point of flipping his clothes, this is too ridiculous.
There is also the title of the film Ten Things I Hate About You Some of them are inconsistent with the content of the film, so don't put the protagonist of the film on the couple, the sister. But really, I can't think of a better topic.
There are still some types of youth films, which involve parent-child relationship, friendship, black friends, teacher-student relationship, and love.
All in all, this movie is good and worth watching.
