Boy, girl, ring, hornet

I don’t know how many people I’ve told about this touching story, how many people I’ve asked about the name of this film, and I don’t know what better way I can find it. But I know that after many times of forgetting and remembering, I still remember it, I am still moved, and I also know that it was the only movie that made me cry.

Time has passed, my memory has blurred, my face has become unfamiliar, and my voice has slowly faded away. There are only boys, girls, rings, hornets left in my memory... But even though there are only these four short words, they don’t affect me. Looking for it, so I found it.

The sincere feelings between the little boy and the little girl, the touching sweetness, and the shocking sacrifices haunted me and made me unforgettable. The ring in my memory changed from green to blue, and from blue to green, but the heart remained unchanged, and the affection remained unchanged.

Years later, whenever I regret the passing of the boy's life, what also appeared in my mind was the pastor's recitation of the peaceful and deep Mark's Gospel.

Some people say that this is only a child's movie, but what is an adult movie? See how the Americans save the world on the brink of destruction? See how James Bond kills one target after another? Or how does Harry Potter use the magic wand? Thinking about this movie, sincere emotions and fearless devotion are what is lacking in the chaotic real world. They can summon our only sincerity and calmness...

You may think my thoughts are very naive, Naive, it may be because I was a child watching this movie, but I was moved to tears. Then dare to ask you today, why would you cry?

My Girl quotes

  • Thomas J. Sennett: What do you think it's like?

    Vada Sultenfuss: What?

    Thomas J. Sennett: Heaven.

Vada Sultenfuss: I think... everybody gets their own white horse and all they do is ride them and eat marshmallows all day. And everybody's best friends with everybody else. When you play sports, there's no teams, so nobody gets picked last.

Thomas J. Sennett: But what if you're afraid to ride horses?

Vada Sultenfuss: Doesn't matter 'cause they're not regular horses. They've got wings. And it's no big deal if you fall 'cause you'll just land in a cloud.

  • Vada: 'Ode to Ice Cream' by Vada Sultenfuss. I like ice cream a whole lot/It tastes good on days that are hot/On a cone or in a dish/This will be my only wish/Vanilla, chocolate, rocky road/Even with pie, a la mode.
