Les Misérables officially opened in Japan on December 21, 2012, which seems to be three days earlier than December 24 in the United States. Almost a month before its release, the trailer for the film has already been screened on major TV stations in Japan. For a foreign language film, this is a huge amount of publicity. You know, the Japanese are actually seldom like China, who flock to watch a foreign language film. In the past two days, The Hobbit was released in Japan almost at the same time as the One Piece movie version, which is really unlucky. I went to see The Hobbit on a Sunday on the third day of the movie’s release. Because I was afraid that I might not be able to get a good ticket like China, I went to book a ticket three hours in advance, but I only found out when I entered the screening room. , more than 60% of the seats are empty. And the One Piece show next to it, even the tickets for the next day were booked out.

Les Miserables, I probably want to spend a lot of money to have a good harvest in Japan, but, as far as my movie viewing experience is concerned, the entire movie theater is only barely half of the attendance.

However, this does not affect the charm of the film itself. Before the movie, I had never read the original book, but just reading the title gave me a feeling, tragic, the ending must be tragic. However, after reading it, the impression is the opposite. This is actually a very promising film, and even if you watch it at Christmas, it will not destroy the positive holiday atmosphere.

So where does this misery come from? This tragedy comes from the inescapable fate of fate. The ancient Greeks used an analogy to comment on tragicomedy: Comedy makes you look down at people, which means you are above others; tragedy makes you look up at people, indicating that you are below them. The story of Oedipus tells a truth that fate is the only invincible thing for you, and this is also the tragedy of mankind. Tragedy in Les Misérables combines the above two definitions of tragedy.

Jean Valjean, who spent nineteen years in prison for stealing a small slice of bread. Humiliated as a slave, he was finally paroled and released from prison one day. The yellow identity certificate showed his past identity as a prisoner. Such a birth made him a refugee at the bottom of society. After that, despite the kindness of the bishop, he started a new life, tore up the disgraceful identity certificate, opened a factory, and became the mayor. However, his origins will always haunt him and put him in the pursuit of Inspector Javert for a long time.

Javert, he is a staunch defender of the law. He was born in a prison and has no problem with the world. Only the law makes him obsessed. He insisted that once a person is a fugitive, he is a criminal for life and should be punished by law. But in the end, he was moved by Jean Valjean's actions to help others. The detective also asked himself about his beliefs. Whether the law is still the only yardstick he can rely on. His jump was liberation, and even more submissive, because he succumbed to the law. Since the kindness of human nature and the resolute law enforcement cannot coexist, he can only use his own death to escape the feeling that he is inclined to believe in the kindness of human nature. But the shackles of the law on him made him never able to expose his feelings in a fair and open manner. In his behavior, he either obeyed the law and arrested Jean Valjean, or betrayed the law and forgive Jean Valjean. What is the detective's choice? He had no choice but to die.

Fantine, she is the most typical bottom person. Because of her beautiful appearance, she was envied by female factory workers and lost her job and the only way to make a living. Later, in order to support her daughter, she sold her hair, teeth, and even her body at a low price. In the play, the song she sang, I dreamed a dream, after being reduced to a prostitute, recorded that she too fell into a beautiful love, or in a beautiful dream. But reality dismembered her dream, and she became the most degraded person in society. The song, to be honest, was brilliantly performed by Anne Hathaway. What is outstanding, no matter whether the singing is professional or not, what can move the audience is excellence.

Éponine, she's my personal favorite character on the show. Born in the lower class, his parents were profiteers, and he fell in love with the young and promising Marius of noble birth. Cinderella's story, after all, did not appear in the movie. Marius and cosette fell in love at first sight, and the two have equal family strength and good looks. So A heart of love sung by the three people in the play is really touching. A pair of people who love each other, and a person who secretly harbors unrequited love, can't keep the quality of the pairing (in the romance novels of the late nineteenth century), so Eponine is also inevitable. She hid her identity as a girl, took part in the revolution, and died in Marius' arms. Before she died, she also said to Marius, that you can hold me is my greatest happiness.

Almost everyone in the play tries to fight their own destiny, but almost all of them end in death. The show is high above, giving a hopeful end to the fate of the tragic characters - freedom. The story is set in the French revolution at the end of the 19th century, where the small fortunes of the characters and the great fortunes of the country are intertwined. Tears of hardship in life merged with bloodshed for freedom. Freedom has somewhat become the key word that every character pursues in common. At the end of the play, when the crowd stood on the battlefield to change their destiny and fight for freedom and sang for tomorrow, the movie ended in a high atmosphere, and every misery, it seemed, was also resolved by freedom.

do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night?
It is the music of a people
who are climbing to the light.

For the wretched of the earth
there is a flame that never dies.
Even the darkest night will end
and the sun will rise.

They will live again in freedom
in the garden of the Lord.
They will walk behind the ploughshare;
they will put away the sword.
The chain will be broken
and all men will have their reward.

Will you join in our crusade ?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
when tomorrow comes!

You Did you hear people's singing, it disappeared in the dark night in the mountains.
That's everyone's singing, and it crawls in the direction of the light.

In the ravaged earth, there is still an undead flame.
Even the darkest night will pass and the sun will rise.

They will once again live in freedom, in their master's garden.
They will put down hoes and broadswords.
Because, all chains will be broken, and everyone will get the rewards they deserve.

Will you join our crusade?
Who can walk with me strong.
Can you meet a different world on the fortress on the street?
Did you hear the people singing.
Tell me if you hear the drum trumpet in the distance.
That's the future they bring you, when tomorrow comes!
